Just loved this hotel. Its a bit austere if you don't like modern but plenty of amenities, like bathrobes, slippers and even a FREE mini bar with soft drinks and beer. From the room you could see the top of one of Gaudi buildings on the next block just around the corner. Expensive high end stores to gawk at and beautiful architecture everywhere. It has a pool and spa area. I highly recommend the buffet breakfast it is a taste treat. Behind the hotel is a courtyard which is served by the bar....

Such a beautiful place. Old, beautiful, well-maintained and staffed with outstanding young people. I especially enjoyed Maria at the front desk, Jose Manuel our porter. But really, all of them were so helpful and lovely. Charming, even. I love this place. I think I’m too old to make my way back to Barcelona again, but if I did, I’d definitely stay here. Each time we returned to the hotel and were greeted by the doorman, it felt like we were returning to a place that cares about us.

I must say this is probably the best 5-star hotel in Barcelona. I've stayed at many others: Hotel Do, El Place, Cotton House, The One, Mandarine Oriental, The Majestic, etc, and this is certainly my favorite. Starting from the location: right at the center of Passeig de Gracia, at a beautiful building. It's very clean and polished, and by clean I meant CLEAN. Awesome. The hotel previously was a Ritz, dating from the early 1900's, so you are surrounded by elegance. This is the only hotel we've ever stayed in where we were given a personal tour of the facilities. Our hotel room was extremely comfortable, with a small balcony overlooking the street with French doors that opened. There was no traffic noise at night. Great stay in Barcelona! Beautiful five star hotel. Be sure you get an upgrade room NOT a corner as it was small for our friends. Lovely neighborhood, easy to get to other areas walking or by taxi. Very safe. Hotel staff was outstanding. Hotel has amazing veranda for cocktails, and the décor was very upscale. Lap pool on roof was beautiful. Bar area lovely. This was definitely a five star. Worth the money.
