The property beach is lovely. If walk down to the fishing village unfortunately it is littered with garbage and animal feces. Sadly this is present in many countries. Hopefully with time and education this global problem of pollution will be solved.
But the hotel is very relaxing and tranquil with lovely owners. Food is perfection!!!!
Hotel is an oasis! Beautiful, boutique hotel. We struggled a little to communicate with the staff, but they were all incredibly friendly and the service was wonderful. The bathroom in the standard room is not separate, so you can see into the shower from the bed, regardless, comfortable, well-kept room.
A very comfortable room (we stayed in one with two queen beds) with a great air conditioner. The location is excellent -- very close to Parque de los Novios, but is on a quieter street that does not have the traffic and noise closer to the park. The room's large-screen TV offers a great selection of cable channels. We were also impressed with the breakfast -- a traditional Colombian meal of eggs, arepa, toast, and natural juice. Excelent spot in downtown Santa Marta. Restaurants are close by, theres an "EXITO" store; (mini walmart) 2 blocks away if you want to get supplies for your stay. Overall, the hotel was perfect for our stay!
Two friends and I stayed here before the Lost City trek. The hotel is beautiful, has a lovely rooftop deck serving delicious meals, is very well located and the rooms are large and comfortable. The staff is outstanding; they were not only friendly but incredibly helpful on our return from the trek. They called the airline for us to change flights, stored our luggage, and provided extensive advice. Couldn't be happier about this hotel and would stay again!
I truly enjoyed my stay at Alko Cotona.
