Labor Day weekend

The people who own the hotel were the perfect guest there was a gas station in a bar and restaurant across the street and the company was great. There was free wood for a fire at night and a free coffee bar.

Our room was spotless, with comfortable beds. This property has a country store and tavern (with great fried perch!!) within walking distance. It doesnt get quieter than it is here. One of the top dry fly fishing rivers in the world is withing walking distance and the fishing truly is world class.

I thought the properly was on the riverside or in view. It wasn't. It was a one floor xoncrete structure with 6 doors outside in a parking lot behind the old building shown. It was modern, clean. No temperature control in room, we were freezing. Also no phone service to call number on door to be let inside.

We booked the hotel within 24 hours. The property description mentioned that we should call them by 10 p.m. if we were late for check-in, but they were not reachable at all. Therefore, we decided not to go to the property since I didn’t want to risk it with two families. We ended up staying somewhere else, and I didn’t want to risk not getting a room or having to stay in the car.

We arrived for our stay on July 5th to find the place SHUT DOWN. Gas station next door said the owners daughter lived across street. We went over there and a nice gentleman came out and explained the family had an emergency and they needed to close. He reassured us we would not be charged. He said they were trying to contact all reservation sites to shut it down. I looked at my bank account yesterday, July 9th and I was charged on July 4th......the day BEFORE we were to check in. The number listed at website says mailbox is full. And as of yesterday, you can still make reservations.

We arrived to check in for our two night stay and there is no staff on site to check in with. We walked across the street to a restaurant with the same name and the staff there laughed that we were trying to check in. Said the owner of this motel is in prison and not reachable. Tried the motel phone#, a full voice mail said I can't leave a message. Called hotels.com for assistance and all automated service wouldn't allow me to speak to a person. Website shows beach front, there is no water. Also shows casino & restaurant on site - neither exist. The hotel looks outside exactly like the photo but that is as far as we could see since there was no way to access the room we had reserved 6 weeks ago. DO NOT BOOK!

The owners live two doors down and greeted us at our room two minutes after we called. They provided dining recommendations at a town 12 miles away as nothing was open in town. Motel itself was roomy, comfortable, and clean.
