A little gem in the center of Mérida

This hotel is a little gem. The location is very close to the historical center. The room, patio, pool, and garden are absolutely gorgeous. The service is excellent. The receptionist had good recommendations for tours and restaurants. The continental breakfast that was included with the night was very good. The only thing that I would improve would be to let the guests know in advance via email about the parking options available nearby as there is no hotel parking.

A beautiful, intimate place to stay ....

A very pleasant stay. Quiet, comfortable and relaxing, and so nice to return to after a day wondering around town. My wife and I have been to Merida on several occasions, but this was the first time staying at this location. Villa Verde is perfectly located in parque Santa Lucía as it is only a few blocks either way from Plaza Grande to Santa Ana/Montejo areas. The property is very well kept and the rooms are spacious. With only five rooms we rarely saw other couples and it felt like our own personal hacienda. This property is perfect for those new to the area or returning time and time again. Highly recommended!

Service is decent at Decu hotel,, but do not rent a room on the bottom floor as you will hear every foot step of the occupent above, which is nerve wrecking. Also, every time you leave and want to reenter the hotel, a staff member has to run to the front door to let you in. They dont give you a key.

Mixed feelings about this hotel

Let me start off by saying that we don't usually stay in hotels as nice -and pricy!- as this one. Perhaps this has some sort of bias in my review! The hotel is an absolutely gem. It's gorgeous, and you'll feel like taking picture of it all day long. The room was spacious and we loved the architecture style -modern but very inspired by traditional Merida architecture. On the other hand, I have to admit that I felt that the hotel was a bit stingy. The included breakfast was very frugal -and even if you were to ordered milk with your coffee, the would charge you for it. Wi-Fi wasn't great in our bedroom, and they couldn't fix it. The hotel staff were always willing to help and serve, but sometimes didn't know how (i.e., I called them a few days in advance to book a trip through them to Chichen Itza and I was astonished by how little they communicated to me about the trip -it almost sounded as if they didn't want me to buy through them!). It is perhaps because of these reasons, along with the very high price of the hotel, that I wouldn't recommend it to someone else. Merida is gorgeous and fun and safe, and there are many other great hotels. I hope this helps someone else.
