One terrible experience

It was probably one of the worst experiences, the room was dirty and so was the bathroom. The room was cleaned as we were checking in and it had garbage from someone who had checked in previously which made us question if even the sheets had been changed. In addition, Tabetha (the innkeeper) was not very friendly and took more than half an hour to check us in. This was all for paying $170 a night. While we understand the rustic setting, it does not have to mean that the place has to be dirty. The shower had no water pressure, there was no soap and we were sharing it with another family. Used to our share of motels that had challenges, this was the worst.

THIS LISTING IS NOT ACTIVE

We booked this and then at 4:40pm the day of our reservation the VRBO sent us an email saying that it was canceled. It was lucky that I didn't see the email and went anyway and met the owner who had openings. It ended up being cheaper than listed and the problem is this is a new owner who didn't set up the listing. He has tried many times to shut down this listing but VRBO won't let him. You can book this on the other well known site and it will get you an actual reservation. The owner and place were very nice and it is worth a stay.

Do not book - location doesn’t work w/ hotels.com

Don’t book! This location no longer works with hotels.com. Why is it still listed? Who knows. We showed up and didn’t have accommodations. That said, the place is filthy & dilapidated, e.g. no cold potable water, holes in the wall, dead bugs on the dining room table. The manager was exceptionally nice. We enjoyed chatting with him despite the pickle that hotels.com put us in by accepting payment for a location they’ve not worked with for several months.

When we got their the gate was locked and we, along with 4 or 5 others had to wait at least 30 min. There were all kinds of warnings on the gate about restrictions on arrival times. There were maybe 5 Teepees/tents in a field with cow manure everywhere. Nothing but a bed with 1 blanket in the Teepee. No outhouse, water, or anything else was available. Then we were told he overbooked and could we go somewhere else. A tall order on Fri. Night of a holiday weekend. I don’t think we got our $$ refunded either.

Owner said he didn’t use Expedia and refused to honor reservation and told us to get off his property. It was 8 pm and we were 90 min from the nearest cell signal. Additionallly property was run down and in poor condition. We promptly left as he said he’d call police.

Great BnB Style Place in Gifford Pinchot Forest

Relaxed atmosphere in a great part of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Close to a ton of hikes, on a working farm, next to a rolling creek. You can stay in the farmhouse, or one of the teepees like my partner and I did. It's not the ritz. It's very down to earth. Anything it lacks in comfort, it makes up for in charm. What makes it GREAT is the 300+ acres you're allowed to wander around in. You can meet the farm animals, go on some hikes, do some horseback riding. And the help, the help was awesome and informative. Very approachable and friendly. Super cool place to stay if you want something off the beaten path, which I did, and am grateful for.

Not a hotel

This is a pasture with cows and other animals , with tee pees. Drove down a dirt trail , had to stop and open a gate to drive through over a bridge that felt unsafe. Old shacks full of garbage. Did not feel safe.

Unique and great experience, kids fav on a 2 week

If you want traditional accommodation comforts and pampered hotel treatment this is not for you. If you want happiness and authenticity in a beautiful spot along with rescue animals including Larry the lady llama don't hesitate . Good base for a Rainer trip. Pitt is a great host.

Slechte prijs/kwaliteit verhouding

Glamping without glamour

I was told that the campground is undergoing a reorg effort, hopefully it will be a better place soon. When we were there in July, even though we paid the highest price for a room number that has the same description as the other rooms, as the room was not ready, we were downgraded to a smaller room. In the tipi, there were air metresses and light-weight sleeping bags available, however since the tipi wasn't insulated, it was basically sleeping outdoors openly, it was freezing at night. At 2:00am we finished burning the fuel the heating lamp that they provided (glad it didn't catch a fire in the tent). The rest of the night was quite unbearable, we got up to put on all our clothes. Fortunately, we didn't got sick the next morning. The staff was nice. However I wouldn't go back unless I am assured of improved facility and organization.

It was a good place to stay

I enjoyed everything about this place. I think they need to get a better ventilation system for upstairs. We enjoyed the company and quiet. I do have to say that one particular gentleman employee needed to stop sharing his drama. Overall I would stay here again.

Rustic ranch close to Mt Rainier.

If you want rustic character, peace and solitude this is the place to stay. The caretaker Pitt was friendly and was very helpful with answering questions and taking care of our needs. Lots of farm animals on property and also you can rent one of many teepee's to stay in for an ultimate experience. We stayed in the farm house and yes it could use uodates but that is the charm of this 115 year old home. To us it is 5 star to many it is to rustic to handle so if ya like this style of accommodations then this is for you. We will come back and stay longer.

No running water for morning shower. Had to fill a teapot with cold water from the culligan water dispenser and poured it on myself for morning rinse. Would be fine if camping but not fine for a hotel.

Dont stay. Not a good experience.

This was from August of 2016, but I really kept regretting not leaving a review. Don't stay here unless you get it dirt cheap. I'm so surprised there are good reviews. I felt really ripped off and tricked. I guess it depends on your expectations. We stayed here for 3 nights. We had to book last minute because my husband wasn't sure if he would get the time off. Well he did and this was the last place left. I should have known when they offered a no cancellation policy. Next time, I will book somewhere early with a free cancellation policy. We paid a lot for our 3 night stay. What a rip off!!! But it's a "working ranch". No. It's an old property with over grown fields and weeds everywhere with an old run down house. It is a neat old house but not suitable as a BnB. We showed up in the dark. On the street leading there, there was a broken down truck just left in the road. The front grill was hanging off and it wasn't even pushed over to the side. Creepy. Then you see the dead end sign. My husband said this is already looking like the movie "Wrong Turn". Lol. Sounds like the beginning of a horror movie, right? We kept going. Went over a super old bridge and pulled up in front of this very old house with a broken railing. There was a small family with missing teeth chopping wood and they all just stopped and stared. It was awkward. My husband again said "Yep, just like Wrong Turn". Omg. It was funny but I was bothered. It was not comfortable. I wanted to just leave

Starry, starry night. Snacking deer & a teepee . .

Ok it's a working farm with some lovely rescue animals - well cared for (2 donkeys, 2 aging horses, a lama, a little horse & one very happy doggie who seems to love his new home.) Plus there are lots of deer/elk in this area - take care while driving. I believe some were snacking around my teepee late that night. The stars at night here are amazing - absolutely stunning! But, it's a farm - so if you don't like to camp, and you want polish - this isn't for you. On the other hand the breakfast was great, the service was friendly, and the new managers were well versed about the historic value of the property & were hard working. I loved my teepee - but it's cold at night. I'd bring two extra blankets (one for over the air mattress & another on me.) Though they do provide a Coleman heater. I came up to Mt. Rainier to ride my bike up to Paradise. It was hot, gorgeous & didn't disappoint. Overall I think this property with a touch of extra work would make for a really great venue (under new mgmt now) . . . it's a rustic, stylish attempt. As well, it should be noted that this area has no evening lights. So it's best to arrive in the mid afternoon & get yourself settled in. I even went for a ride for about 4 hours after getting in - fabulous! Lasting impressions: the donkeys were sweet & like their bums rubbed, the dog Chillie is so sweet, and the farm manager is a prize. Totally enjoyed myself & would have stayed another day if I had more time. Cheers from Jojosan in Canada -

Surprise

One night is an adventure, two nights would be an ordeal. Very rustic. Pigs, goats, a calf, horses. Too many people too share two bathrooms. Loved meeting the other adventurers, tho. Everyone should experience Mt. Rainier Ranch once.

4/10 Fair

Peaceful Setting

The place is easy to reach from the main road and in a pleasant environment. One small bathroom upstairs is for four rooms and the shower gives only a small drip of water. Fortunately there was only another couple in a room and a bathroom downstairs. The carpet in The Rainier room needs replacing. It is quite stained. The mattress is very comfortable, however it needs a mattress cover under the sheet.

4/10 Fair

NOT worth almost $200 a night. Misleading ad.

When I was booking my trip and was planning a day at Mount Rainier I wasn't finding a lot of hotel options. When Mt. Rainier Ranch popped up it looked beautiful. A large farmhouse in a forest with surrounding mountains. It was $175 for the night but I figured it would be one of my vacation splurge days. When I arrived it was NOT what I was anticipating. It was a house with a good amount of land around it, with teepees you could rent, as well as rooms in the house. I was in the house. The one thing I will say is that the girls who were working there were very friendly. They were accommodating and polite. The room itself . . . it was a bedroom upstairs next to the bathroom. It didn't have curtains OR blinds so thank god it was on the upper floor. The bed was just a box spring and mattress on the floor with no frame and the sheets looked dirty still. Though, that may have easily just been leaves and whatnot blowing in through the window that had nothing but a screen on it. There was a fan propped on a chair . . . that didn't work. Overall, it's not like I felt unsafe or in too dirty of a place to be comfortable staying. It's the fact that it cost me almost 200 dollars. That room should be a $40 a night hostel rent out. I was shocked. On top of that, it was over an hour from the entrance to the park so it's not as though it was even an ideal location. Would not recommend.

4/10 Fair

Greedy management - bad accommodation

This is grossly misrepresented listing - tourists beware! You are forced to provide your credit card and are charged before you have a chance to see the actual accommodations, and than are refused a refund. If you think you are going to stay at the campground type efficient set up - think again!!! It is a set of small (fabric !) teepees in an open field 50 yards away from an old farm house with no bathrooms (actually - there is a bucket - guess this is what is being advertised as shared bathroom), no fire pits - nothing in terms of amenities. Teepees themselves are clean, but are full of mosquitoes, equipped with undersized (for normal people) mattresses and unsafe to operate propane space heater. Owners need to make an honest representation of what this really is and invest in the place to make it an actual place tourists can stay at. Right now - it is an old farm house in the middle of the woods and a muddy field with teepees on it, with no thought or effort. One more note - this place is not near anything - so you are at least 20 min to the nearest grocery store or a restaurant. I would stay away and advise fellow travelers to do the same. There are plenty of well set up, honest and convenient accommodations in the area to choose from.

2/10 Poor

unlivable place

This place is not a hotel. It's enough to tell, that the only bathroom is about 15 drive from the room to the main building across a rough road, and then you have to wait 30 minutes or more, because it's shared with other guests. Is a view worth of $170? Well, the view around is free - you don't need to stay in that unlivable hole to enjoy it.

10/10 Exceptional

Excellent Farm and friendly staff

My family and I wanted to stay at a place with animals near Mt Rainier- this is an excellent place to learn about farming and feed/pet small barnyard creatures! We were greeted with a Smore kit and complimentary beverage when we came in, and our children were given a bottle to feed a baby cow! We had a blast! The property is older- like historic old, so we enjoyed it, reading the reviews on expedia really doesnt give this place justice. It isnt a traditional hotel, but a farm stay, like a vacation rental/bnb feel. We were allowed to use the kitchen provided breakfast and an afternoon snack. My kids took a horseback ride and we went down and floated in the creek with big tubes in the afternoon as it was hot. The property is huge and we enjoyed hiking nearly every day and discovering the cool old farm buildings. It was only 1 hour from Seattle and we were only 10 mins from Mt Rainier national park. We will be back again and again. Our room was very clean, but again the place is old so it isnt modern but has a foresty rustic charm you feel like you just went into an old cowboy town. Pretty cool
