Had a great stay - room was very clean and comfy and a huge bonus was having sky tv (including sports) in the room! Rooms were warm and surprisingly quiet between the rooms, the only noise in the morning with people leaving early eg slamming car doors etc. We were a little apprehensive to stay just given some of the previous reviews but honestly for Hanmer prices we felt like we got really good value - it’s not a brand new modern motel but the price reflects this and so long as people go in knowing they aren’t staying at the Ritz there shouldn’t be any issue. The hosts were very friendly and helpful also. We would definitely stay again.

Parking was good, check in no problem and the guy was friendly. The room was big and loads of space. Beds were very comfortable. The downsides are the bath was stained brown, no way would you have a bath in it. The toilet had brown stains in the bottom. The lighting is poor and I don’t think legally compliant. No privacy anywhere, every window/door has others looking in.

I read some reviews from last year that were condemning, there appears to be work happening since then. 1It was clean, beds in new condition and comfortable. Bathroom, clean and tidy, may have had work done as well. New sliding door, all windows appear new, front door very tidy. Carpet up stairs needs replacing, stairs are a bit wobbly. No toaster in kitchen and lack of cutlery, no sharp knife. Crockery and glasses in good condition. I feel it is good value for money and l know a few things to take for a future stay. Once these things have been attended to it should be ready for a new grading by Motel Assn.

We needed one night in Hanmer on short notice. The whole village was nearly booked out and what was left available required a 2 night minimum so our options were limited. The price we paid for a studio was cheap and the room did reflect that. It was dated but comfortable, grounds are tidy and host was friendly. Clean crisp sheets (from a external laundry business assumingly) My faults would be horribly bright strip lighting, a heater not fit for purpose and dishes not clean. Otherwise ok for price point.

They were friendly and helpful but the accomodation is very tired, no sound proofing between walls, cramped and dark, lots of broken lights (which didn’t help), hasn’t been updated in decades. Kitchen was very basic with very old benchtop oven with elements on top. Not ideal for cooking. Was a wonderful location and it was the last available option in town so meant we could actually go. Don’t have high expectations.

The Owner was very obliging, as due to CHC being booked out & a midnight flight arrival, we knew if would be a 3am arrival. He kindly left the unit unlocked for us. While the place is showing it's age & use, it was clean & tidy, the shower was great, the sheets were clean & the beds comfy. We slept well. Would I use Larchwood Motels again? Without hesitation. It's value for money indeed. I have to say, I enjoyed teh chat with the owner teh next morning. A cheerful & kind man.
