This hotel is really amazing I feel like the pictures don't do it justice the pictures are nice that's why I picked this hotel but staying here was a completely different experience and feeling the staff where great especially the staff in the premium lounge I don't noticed I booked for that package but it's a must you get daily breakfast and a evening snack free drinks and it's expensive it's own deck you get access to the spa which is the most discreet and exclusive spa I've been to that line made our trip magical you the spa is down a huge stair case into a hidden oasis in the middle of the hotel completely amazing I can't say enough the hotel it's self is away from tourist attractions bit we wanted that rent a car be cautious they like to drive very fast just book this hotel you will not regret it , the price is high but the experience is well worth it

Disappointed Stay

Our stay at the Savoy did not live up to expectations. Given its high rating and 5-star status, we anticipated a seamless, high-class experience, but instead found ourselves constantly being asked to pay extra for basic amenities — €70 per bed to lie by the pool, €35 per person to use the sauna, breakfast not included, and so on. The food was well below standard: dry, lacking flavour, and served with underwhelming service in the restaurants. The building itself is undeniably beautiful, but overall, the experience felt far from the premium quality we expected from such a renowned hotel. We left feeling disappointed rather than indulged.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the 5-star Saccharum resort. The facilities including spa and pools are of an excellent standard as was the service throughout. We had a premium room and loved the breakfast service and afternoon snacks and added touches. Dining options are varied and to a high standard. We also loved the beach club and entertainment.

I spent my 30th birthday here at Saccharum and it was a great choice. For my birthday we did a spa day and when I got back to my room there was a surprise cake waiting for me. Their staffing is welcoming and good to you at all times. Would rebook.

A beautiful hotel with a lovely infinity pool overlooking the sea, and the staff are excellent. The food was good but expensive. We found it much better value to eat at the nearby restaurants at the marina. We found our room and balcony (with half ocean view) lovely, but the bathroom facilities are a very odd design and lack privacy. It's very strange that there's no shower room door, particularly given that the shower entrance is opposite the main hotel room door! I would recommend this hotel for a luxury stay in a beautiful location.

The property is wonderful, the staff makes the difference because the service it’s incredible. In the spa there are a lot of facilities, the hotel is new & proper. The only disadvantage : during the night there is not much things to do near the hotel, the only thing is to go tu Funchal which is about 30 min by car. But definitely we had the opportunity to relax in this oasis called Saccharum.

Rest and Relaxation in Calheta

Savoy Saccharum Hotel was the perfect place for my friend and I who wanted a place to rest and relax. While there are many common areas where you can enjoy the views of the ocean, we decided to treat ourselves to rooms with sea-view. The rooms are well-appointed, the beds are comfortable and the good water pressure in the showers. The luxurious modern decor of the hotel and rooms are based on the sugar cane history of the location. The spa facilities and therapists were excellent. The buffet breakfast was very good. Great location as restaurants and supermarket are only minutes away by foot.

Amazing! Didn’t want to leave

Calheta is approx 50min from the airport so it’s not that close to Funchal but the hotel and surrounding is sooooo nice that it makes up for it in terms of not being close to the things you would normally cover as a tourist. Loved the breakfast (soooo good especially the egg and pancake station). The view from our sea view room with balcony. The pools, the gym. We didn’t want to leave obviously!

We had a pool suite for a family of 4, and the room was enormous and so luxurious. The bed was very comfortable, and my children said that the sofa bed was too. We absolutely loved the pool on the balcony. Breakfast was very busy, and an amazing number of guests somehow manage to drop food on the floor. The staff were quick to clean it up and replenish the food. We had buffet dinner once and that was really nice. There was a good selection of food that was constantly topped up. The pools were excellent, but it was slightly annoying that other guests hogged the sunbeds by placing towels on them early in the day but didn't go there until later.

A 4* hotel that you need to pay extra to get the 5

Hotel is 5* but you only receive 4* services and facilities if you want to full access you must pay for premium 70Euro a day per person! No beds by the pool no access to indoor pool or spa. No water every day in the room… Food is horrible in the restaurant, after returning 3 dishes we ordered delivery for the rest of the days. Rooms showers share the same drains internals so smell and water from one shower in one room goes into the other room shower. I got a call from guest relations explained and she said they will check but of course nothing from the hotel. Simply an hotel not for me.
