All in all we enjoyed to room and the resort AC was week Auto shutoff kept the room from cooling off Pillows are hard. Would suggest more in the closet

An overpriced motel

This is a motel renewed on the outside, the right price would have been half of what they charge. Rooms are just old not renewed with a vintage feeling as some reviews state. Still moquette on the floor and windows like AC. On the plus

Needs a big update

The hotel sorely needs an update. It is a roadside hotel with some of the same bathroom fixtures since the 50s and hobbled together until now. The windows are thin. We would hear the bed squeaking a room above and the room rate was shockingly high for such a place. The pool is intentionally overheated -- I could not stay in it without sweating. No service came to our room the entire time (Covid rules) On the positive - it is just off the center of Main Street Calistoga. The farmers market is right out your door. You will know because the windows are so thin you'll hear them setting up. But is in a fantastic small town.

8/10 Very good

Lovely property, hotel rooms could use a refresh.

The hotel's facility, spas, pools, and outdoor grill, and other outdoor facilities, are the highlight of this place. It's beautiful, surrounded by trees, hot pools, chairs everywhere so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy. The bedrooms could use a revamp. Maybe my expectations were a bit high, but the room was dark, 1970-80's style. There was a kitchen (in-room) but it made the room show its age. The bathroom was out of date too. Interestingly they had a top of the line flat screen TV, that was a sort of anachronism with the rest. The AC was a bit loud, but manage to drown out any noise, even though there wasn't many, in between it's start and stop cycles. I was reminded by the pillows why I usually travel with my own pillow. In all in all, the bedroom was not the highlight, it's the property that was. Guests were friendly, and I spend only one minute with the staff so I have no idea how they were. In general though, in the area, everyone was friendly. Would I go back? No, I would look for a different place, but this was the only place which had space for less then $300 on a weekend.

8/10 Very good

The staff is friendly and helpful, the whole place is very clean. The pools are great! We had a room with a kitchen and that was nice. Also, lots of lovely areas to BBQ then eat outside. The gardens are lovely. All in all, a very nice, comfortable place to spend a couple of days.

Great, clean, comfortable stay

What a great place to stay. Sadly we were in town for a funeral and just needed a quiet, relaxed, comfortable place for a few nights. While the buildings and rooms are a bit dated, Roman Spa staff were friendly and helpful, could walk to everything in town from the hotel, had amazing foot massages at the spa, pools were clean and heated, room was clean as can be with a kitchen that had everything needed to cook or to store leftovers from restaurants. The grounds were lovely and well maintained. We would absolutely stay here again.

Enjoyed the thermal water. Only comment is the minerals on the edges of the pools. The water was clear but it would look better with the deposits removed from the pools.

I loved the daffodils and the tulips. They were so gorgeous.

The Spas are nice.

I was in a walker and they did not have an ADA room available for me. They did move me to the first floor. The room was crowded so it made it hard to move around. The spas are very nice. It was not crowded in December.

The property looked lovely. The staff was very polite. My shower plumbing was horrific there was a piercing whinning sound the entire time i had the shower on every time. My room was 167.

Paula, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

Still love the pools but the constant construction noise that started at 7:30am and went until 6 pm was horrible! The staff weren’t helpful. There were more little signs saying why stuff was incomplete or unfinished. Then on top of that little notes about where this or that goes…. We’ve been going there 50 years! No recognition of that even when you mention it. We’ll never go again! Overprices of course! So so sad…..
Cathy, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

Nice staff. Expensive for the condition- 70’s decor. Excellent location.
Sandra, 2-night trip

2/10 Poor

We arrived at the property ~1:10PM. We acknowledged that check-in time is 3PM, and asked the front desk if our room might be available even though we were a couple of hours early. The front desk clerk told us that the room was clean and available, but that we would have to pay a $30 fee to move in earlier than check-in. The clerk was polite, knowledgeable, and efficient -- he was simply conveying to us what the house rules are. We felt gouged by the request to pay $30 dollars for simply moving in early -- something that does not cost the property anything. Totally ungracious on the part of the Roman Spa, shamefully nickel and diming customers .
Alfredo, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Not clean. No daily house keeping. Not worth the cost.

Happy Birthday Trip !

Jack hammer and construction during our stay by the mineral pools. The hot water system was broken and the pool’s were cold . Going to a Hot Springs Spa with cold pools makes me wonder why they didn’t offer a free return visit in the future? They offered late check out to use their cold pools? They offered a 30% off coupon but couldn’t even deliver that as we checked out.

I did not like the fact there was no cleaning of the rooms, unless we asked. An early check in cost. The pool was to hot. Otherwise, the staff and the the resort itself was excellent.
