Wish we had stayed longer We only stayed at Hotel Château de Palaja for one night, and we honestly regretted not planning more time here. It is a very quiet and peaceful place. The room was clean, the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, and they spoke excellent English, which made everything very easy. The hotel has a beautiful garden, a swimming pool and convenient parking. There is also a great comic book collection, which is a nice extra if you are interested in that. What surprised us most was that even the children really enjoyed the stay, despite there not being any special entertainment or activities specifically for kids. The atmosphere itself was simply very pleasant and relaxing for everyone. There is also an excellent restaurant nearby, but I would definitely recommend booking a table in advance. A really lovely place that we would happily return to. 100% recommended!

Reall nice hotel and very helpful owner who looked after us and had great local knowledge. Rooms were huge and pool was quiet and got the sun until late.

This hotel was rated highly and priced as though it was a high end property - it is not. It is an ancient chateau remodeled into a 1970s motel with amateur carpentry. Upon arrival the manager attempted to upsell us on-site breakfast and booking a dinner reservation through her website instead of showing us to our room. Our room was surprising, as it was not attractive or comfortable. There was a giant space heater to be plugged in because the proprietor turns off the heat at night - in December! The bathroom door was an ill fitting rolling door that did not provide privacy. We were happy to check out the next day. I could not recommend this hotel.

Calm place away from the crowds

We stayed in a spacious suite for 2 adults & 2 children. Breakfast was lovely and generous, inside or in the garden, depending on the weather. We enjoyed the calm (and clean swimming pool) away from the crowds of Carcassonne, yet just 7min from it by car. The hotel is run by a couple and they are extremely busy, not to say stretched. There was no room service (making beds etc) due to Covid but it is nice and clean. Would be a great place for an outside party!

Great place to stay when visiting Carcassonne

Very welcoming with comfortable rooms and good breakfast. No evening meal but there is an excellent restaurant in the same building. Easy to get into Carcassonne and gives you a very tranquil place to stay. We were here when devastating floods hit the area and the village of Palaga. We had no problems thanks to the attentive service we had from the owners who did everything possible to make our stay perfect.

Great hotel for peace and quiet near Carcassonne

Loved our 5 night stay at this hotel. Very comfortable and quiet but still only a short drive from Carcassonne. The manager is very helpful with suggestions for sights. Adjacent restaurant is very good too. Highly recommend!!!
