6/10 Good

The staff was super friendly. But the room wasn’t as clean as one would hope, a few hairs laying around and some noticeable spots where the vacuum is not reaching. But the biggest thing here is the bed was hard. For the price, it was fine. Hotels in Anchorage are super expensive and I’d take friendly operators and feeling safe any day.

Our stay was very good. We were only here 1 day, and the hotel is newly renovated and the staff were very helpful. It was a pleasant stay and we would definitely stay there again. Our Uber driver said it is not a good neighborhood, but we felt safe there. The room was nice (very clean), the carpet was new and plush, the linen immaculate, and set up to be very efficient.

A clean and safe room with a nice bathroom, but the hotel is still being renovated. It looked like some planned furniture or build ins were missing, or not finished. No elevator, all rooms are up or down a staircase. No soap in shower dispenser. Had to ask. Breakfast was a few pastries and muffins, a few pieces of fruit. No napkins, serve ware or utensils, no coffee lids, had to ask. No cold water dispenser. Looks like the owners are trying to make it nice, but are inexperienced. Night clerk was helpful, morning clerk useless and clueless.

It seems like the Highliner Suites is a work in progress, possibly under new ownership, and it has a lot of potential. The biggest positive was the staff. Everyone we interacted with was genuinely friendly, helpful, and welcoming, which made our stay enjoyable. There is still quite a bit of construction happening, so expect some noise during the day, but it didn’t take away too much from the overall experience. Once the renovations are complete and everything is fully operational, I could easily see this becoming a 4 star, or even a 5 star, property. There are just a few finishing touches that would make a big difference, such as improving the light that comes through under the room doors, updating the carpeting and some of the appliances, and making the room doors easier to open and close. Overall, we had a good stay and appreciated the excellent customer service. I’m excited to see what this place looks like once all the work is finished.

This hotel was under construction when we checked in . But the staffs were extremely helpful in everything. There is no elevator in the property but the staffs helped us carrying up & down our luggages . They even helped us loading our car . The rooms were very clean and the staffs made sure we had everything we need for our stay . Our special thanks goes to Mike & Amanda who made our stay very comfortable & memorable also .

The owners are just finishing the entire property renovations. All cutting edge with the “new car smell”. Will return. Easy parking. Bus stop just outside. Thankful for the stay!

This hotel was just recently renovated. The rooms are clean and well appointed. Staff are all nice and welcoming. Shops are located nearby for your essentials. It is a short drive to downtown Anchorage were most of the restaurants and shops are located. They also offer snacks and fruits in the lobby for the guests. We had a wonderful stay here and would definitely recommend this hotel.

I was exceptionally impressed with the helpfulness and kindness of the staff. They are a new hotel outfit but are absolutely excelling already. They don't have every amenity of some of the bigger chains, but it was a very well kept room, with modern design, and comfort. They provided plenty of coffee supplies, towels, etc for our stay. Also, it is the first place I've ever seen complimentary feminine products stocked in the bathroom. The rooms and beds were clean and we couldn't hear any street noise or neighboring guests with the windows closed. Consider, they do not have AC in the room but provided a fan and most of the time in ANC it's probably unnecessary anyways.

2/10 Poor

Saw great reviews and wanted to give this new place a shot. Checked in very easily, got to room and noticed dirty sheets. Someone that later checked in the room next to us had a screaming child that was watching an iPad very loudly and had a dog that was barking and they were banging on the wall. Told staff and they couldn’t move us because they were fully booked, but staff spoke to the guests. The noise slowed down from all the time to only once a minute. Evening staff was very kind and changed the sheets without question. Later found out that the walls are just paper thin, you can hear the tv in the other room very easily and got woken up at 6am by it. I am a superintendent in construction and half this stuff wouldn’t pass. The whole building is slapped together with holes in the shower wall where they miss measured, shower leaks all over the floor because they didn’t seal it properly. Transition in room has a nail head sticking up so you will rip your toe open if not careful. Sink drain is not vented so it fills up when using it. Smoke detectors and lights are painted on. Fire suppression system is cut through the walls at angles. Door frame is pulling away from the wall. The beds are very low quality with sheets that feel like sand paper. Very unpleasant stay and honestly might’ve had better sleep in the car. Also very rough area and was scared to walk down the street.
