There is no A/C, which was okay because they did have a box fan in the window and it was not summer. Overall the stay was fine, but the bed we had was like sleeping on plywood with a thin mattress topper. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. They are renovating the rooms on the upper floor where we stayed and I asked if mattress replacement was part of the renovation. The lady at the desk was not sure, but thought so. Hopefully the mattresses will be updated.

For a hotel over 100 years old, it was a step back in time. It was peaceful, quiet, quaint, charming, and just the place to unwind without noice, etc. The room was clean, the staff very friendly, and had the ambiance of the late 1800's and how the rich and wealthy stepped off the train to come to the mountains to cool down. Very good!!

The Balsam Mountain Inn was a most wonderful place to stay!! EVERY single staff member could not have been more helpful!! To sit on the porch and relax and look at the view was an experience all it's own....sooooo relaxing!! Coffee was a local brand and tasted amazing, along with the pastries. The room was clean, bed was comfortable and the long, hot shower was refreshing. The Inn was close to restaurants downtown and just a shirt trip! You will not be disappointed! Please support this wonderful historic hotel!! It's NOT just a place to stay BUT an experience!! WE LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!! We will DEFINITELY be staying there again! Thank you to everyone for making our stay so enjoyable!!

It is an historic hotel deep in the mountains so it does not offer amenities that many hotels would like a pool. That’s not necessary as it offers such beauty and tranquility along with a great breakfast, cafe and a bar. Sit on the 100 footlong porch and rock yourself happy.

This is a Hotel from the early 20th century. It has wonderful character. It doesn't have AC but does not really need it due to being up in the mountains at about 3500 ft. a room fan and open window was more than adequate. We had small issue with a smoke detector battery getting low and the detector started chirping at 4 in the moring. They don't have over night staff so it was fixed in the morning while we were out and fixed by noon. They do have a weekend breakfast that was very good. All I would recommend this hotlel for comfort and atmosphere.

This is a very historical inn that doesn’t have the most current amenities but is charming with an amazing staff. It’s truly more than just a place to stay, it’s an experience itself. A most interesting old hotel with all its quirks (which are clearly identified in the check in notebook) and historic features. Staff were very helpful and friendly. One bit of advice - ask for room with no one above you, either living or restorng, if possible so you won't hear their footsteps night and day. As the brochure says, sounds carry in this all wood hotel. Definitely worth a visit!
