I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding the significant decline in the ROX hotel, I have stayed at the hotel in the past (pre covid) on numerous occasions and it was always my go to hotel. But unfortunately my stay on Friday, 29th August. I was extremely disappointed with the condition of the hotel, on arrival we were told the the bar was closed and room keys were un available, the overall cleanliness was unacceptable. The room also had a strong damp smell, and the landing had a strong smell of cannabis.
In addition, the shower in our room was broken, and the door locks were not functioning, meaning we did not have keys and had to rely on hotel reception staff to escort us every time we needed access. These issues caused significant inconvenience and raised serious safety and privacy concerns.
I would like to note that the manager was lovely and welcoming, and we appreciated their efforts during our stay.
Since our stay, I have experienced itching and discomfort, which I believe may be related to the room conditions. This experience was far below the standard I expected, especially given the hotel’s previous reputation and 4 star rating
I did not raise the issues during my stay as I was unwell, but I feel it is important to formally bring them to your attention. I request a response regarding how the hotel intends to address these problems and any compensation or remedial action you consider appropriate.
