We stayed at this hotel in Tokyo for five nights, and unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. When we first checked in, there was a very strong unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom or sink. It was so bad we couldn’t stay in the room comfortably. The host was responsive and came to help, sent extra towels, and added some kind of room fragrance. That helped for one night, but the smell kept coming back. We tried closing the sink and bought our own air fresheners, but nothing worked.
The bathroom had mold all over — on the sink, corners, and especially the shower curtain. We were all careful not to touch it while showering because it was so disgusting. These are things that can be easily fixed with proper cleaning or by replacing the curtain, which is cheap and easy to get.
What bothered me most was how unhealthy it felt staying in this room. I constantly felt like I was breathing in moldy air. It was extremely uncomfortable and I didn’t want to come back to sleep there each night.
While the customer service was great, we didn’t reach out again because we knew this wasn’t something that could be solved with room sprays. The location was great, in the heart of the city, but I would not recommend this place to anyone until these cleanliness issues are seriously addressed.
