The biggest question is: what exactly are guests paying for? Almost everything costs extra after arrival. The beds, in our experience, smelled of urine and felt decades old, with a mattress topper barely one centimetre thick. There was visible water damage in the bathroom ceiling, the smell of cigarette smoke lingered throughout parts of the hotel, and the spa was run down and largely unmanned. This property is, in my opinion, so neglected that it is difficult to understand how it is still marketed as a spa and resort. Charging premium prices creates premium expectations, and those expectations were nowhere near met. The location is absolutely beautiful and the potential is enormous. With proper investment, care and competent management, this could become a fantastic destination. Instead, it feels like a property that has been allowed to deteriorate for years while still being marketed as an exclusive experience. Hotels.com offered us NOK 330 in compensation for a stay costing around NOK 3,000. That alone says something about how poor the experience was. A substantial refund would have been a far more reasonable outcome. What surprised me most was that Classic Norway Hotels has chosen to associate its brand with this property.When a hotel chain promotes a hotel under its name,it also shares responsibility for the expectations it creates. In our case, those expectations were simply not met. 1500 letters is not anywhere close to describe this catastrophicly run down place!

Beautiful large property and grounds. Definitely surprised to find out that it’s only accessible by ferry! No cars on the island. A beautiful shuttle drive from the ferry landing to the hotel. There is no peaceful view of the water from the hotel, as pictured. In it’s prime it was quite the destination.

Dessverre en veldig skuffende opplevelse, og absolutt ikke det vi forventet av et hotell som markedsføres som spa-hotell. Spaavdelingen ga nesten ingen spa-følelse. Det var kaldt i bassenget, ingen ansatte til stede i spaområdet, og det var verken tøfler eller badekåper tilgjengelig. Man måtte enten ta med håndkle fra hotellrommet eller gå helt til resepsjonen og betale 45 kr for å leie et håndkle. Det fantes altså ikke engang håndklær tilgjengelig i spaavdelingen. Garderoben luktet i tillegg sterkt av urin, noe som gjorde opplevelsen enda mindre innbydende. Spaet stengte også altfor tidlig. Rommet var gammelt og tydelig slitt, spesielt badet. Etter én dusj var store deler av badegulvet oversvømt. Dusjhodet var i enkel plast, og hele badet fremstod som svært utdatert og i stort behov for oppussing. Sengene og putene var dårlige, så heller ikke komforten på rommet levde opp til forventningene. Når man bestiller et spa-hotell, forventer man en viss standard, komfort og en hyggelig spaopplevelse. Her følte vi dessverre at svært lite levde opp til det som ble markedsført. Etter vår opplevelse står verken rommene eller spaavdelingen i forhold til prisen. Hotellet har en flott beliggenhet og mye potensial, men trenger en betydelig oppgradering før dette kan føles som et ordentlig spa-hotell.

Fint sted, men det bærer preg av tidens tann. Mini golf og div aktivitetsbaner trenger virkelig oppgradering. Personalet var hyggelig og greie. Skuffet over at det ikke var mulig å få spa behandling, hadde vi visst det hadde vi ikke bestilt her. Det var derfor vi ville bo her. Også litt skuffende at det ikke var mulig å velge mat fra en meny, den var bestemt for hver dag. Ellers et fint og rolig sted.

Oppholdet vårt på Hankø var veldig fint, det som trekker aller mest ned er at vi hadde utrolig dårlig vanntrykk i dusjen vår så vi slet faktisk med å få vasket håret ordentlig. Mye trenger oppgradering, men alt i alt en fin opplevelse og et nydelig sted!
