6/10 Good

Cons: No shower gel for whole of hotel. Room not cleaned on first day. Poor wi fi (didn't work in room). Tried to overcharge me on my bill when leaving. Pros: great location. Modern room with good facilities. Nice food & friendly staff.

50th birthday trip to Polzeath Beach area

attentive reception staff who were very helpful. one downer was that there was no room service at night when needing to eat, as i was looking for eating options and no local take aways advertised to get deliveries from

From South coast to North

Cleanliness excellent Double bed comfortable but spoiled by much too big a quilt and sheet making it hot and heavy and sheet wrinkling. Hard to understand how to switch on TV. The Hotel itself was excellent staff superb food excellent also great outdoor pool, very warm. The gardens were good too. Would definitely visit again

Lovely return visit to the St Moritz

A return to the St Moritz after 5 years and we were delighted to see it was still as great as we remembered with lovely, smiling and helpful staff throughout. We stayed in a first floor seaview suite, which had plenty of room for 3 of us. A nice balcony, which sadly didn't get any use during our February visit! Cowshed products in the bathroom, games in the cupboards, lots of wardrobe and drawer space. Breakfast was included with a good selection of fresh fruit, pastries and cooked food all topped up regularly and cooked well. The swimming pool area and gym have been refurbished since our last visit and are much improved.

6/10 Good

Adequate

Our stay at St Moritz hotel was adequate. The room was fine but small, on ground level and facing other hotel buildings in a highly trafficked area of the hotel. It was very hot to we had to have the window open to try to keep cool, but this meant we could hear a lot of outside noise as other guests walked past the room. Breakfast was decent but expensive. A lack of a decent bar for a sundowner was also noted.

8/10 Very good

Far from town, nothing special.

The room was blah - not bad but nothing special, plainly decorated. Disappointed that the gym closed at 7 PM - for a spa hotel it should be open much later, many chain hotels now have 24/7 gym access. Breakfast was also unnspiring, although the service was fine. Eggs were overcooked (ordered over easy), sausages were dry, Just adequate and not up to par for a nice hotel. Nothing special, far from Wadebridge (7 miles, 16 minute drive) even though Wadebridge is in the hotel address - - I thought this was misleading. And sections of the road leading to the hotel are quite narrow (have to yield to oncoming traffic because 2 cars don't fit side by side) and would be a problem driving at night for someone not used to English countryside lanes.

4/10 Fair

Good & comfortable, prices should be kept low.

Excellent hotel in Cornwall. Price needs to stay low. Only issue we had was that the hotel only gave us a table if we booked, as the restaurant is open to the public, we weren’t told this upon check in. Superb breakfast.

Excellent stay

Lovely hotel and spa. Great food. Staff lovely. Rooms very comfortable and clean. Walls a bit thin as we could hear next doors television. Couldnt fault it. The spa was really good

Great relaxing stay

The hotel is modern and clean with a relaxed atmosphere. Rooms are well equipped with very comfortable beds and cosy duvets. The rooms are situated in a separate block to the reception, bar and spa meaning to have to go outside to access the main areas. The spa, pool and saunas are excellent . The bar area is on level 1 next to the restaurant and is a nice area to relax with a coffee or drink. We did not use the restaurant for dinner , but the buffet breakfast was good quality with an ample range of foods.

Nice stay by the sea

Lovely stay in a panoramic suite which was huge! Even had a kitchen with all the kit should you need it. Was lovely sitting on the deck looking out to sea. Was also impressed to find hair straighteners as well as a hair dryer. Pool area was nice but not quite as luxurious as I expected from the pictures. Same with the restaurant, it’s the same place you have breakfast which seemed a bit cafe like for the prices - we ate at The mariners in Rock which is a great gastropub. Check out is 10 which seemed a bit early for a weekend and you had to pay more to have a late check out but it’s worth noting you can keep using the pool area after you’ve checked out which was a nice touch. A few areas could do with a bit more attention to detail- you ideally wouldn’t see building materials on show in the car park or have slightly tatty chairs in reception, you don’t tend to get that at somewhere like the Scarlett or St Enodoc in our experience (local and have been to pretty much all of this type of hotel in Cornwall) but having said that would recommend this place for a nice break by the sea and we’re impressed with the room we got.

Great place to stay, food good, comfý bed and the staff are all extremely helpful. I wouldn't stay anywhere else when going to that part of Cornwall. My only negative comment is the indoor pool was cold and it has a outdoor jacuzzi which is cold too, they have just had this refurbished so maybe management will be improving the problem. They provide a shuttle bus to Polzeath and Rock, from Rock you can get the little ferry across to Padstow. The area is quite and relaxing with a few restsurants around, however the hotel restaurant is very good and reasonably priced.

Disappointed, we checked out early

The service & staff at the hotel were faultless. Everyone was helpful & friendly. Breakfast was one of the best we have had, lots of choice, fresh & good quality. Sadly, we checked out early due to the beds and pillows being terribly uncomfortable to the point we couldn’t bare another night. The pillows didn’t fit the covers so we were left with exposed pillow…that made us feel ick. The room was beautiful & the bed was massive but it was pitted, uncomfortable and gave both my husband & I back ache which we never suffer from. It was the noisiest bed we have ever slept in, the slightest movement & the whole family was woken, Including our son who was disappointed to have been given a tiny camp bed tucked behind the dining table in the living area. This was also awful to sleep on and we didn’t realise until the morning we checked out, was broken. Very disappointed in the bed he was provided given the price we paid and the room type we had booked. It was like an after thought or something you would expect in a 3 star resort! Be careful in the newly refurbished indoor pool, it’s on the colder side & absolutely rammed in summer, no one present to stop the kids using the steam & sauna etc (although they are asked not to when entering) kids were pouring buckets of water on the hot rocks with no adult supervision, the tiled seats were sharp, my son cut his leg as did one other we witnessed. So doesn’t make for a very relaxing swim. Location is wonderful and the restaurants and great.

My friend and I stayed for 4nights the staff were amazing I couldn’t fault them. We had a facial and deep tissue massage in the Cowshed spa and again it was amazing all the ladies were so nice and friendly and welcoming. My only complaint is the WIFI which is very slow and drops connection constantly and the daily cleaning of the rooms which was a big one for me. There was a day they didn’t turn up, a day where they came at 2:55pm when we was getting ready to go out and then when they did clean the room it was not up to standards! They didn’t clean the floors or surfaces, they cleaned the bin and tucked the quilt back under that was it so the cleaning could be better! But other than this it was beautiful! We had a fantastic time and will be returning in the future ☺️ Emma & Lisa room 07B 💜
