Easter weekend at Hovdestøylen

My family spent 4 nights at Hovdestøylen over the Easter long weekend. We had a 3-bedroom unit in a wing next to the main hotel that was modern and well equipped. A cross-country ski trail runs right past the hotel, and the downhill ski centre is about a 5 min drive away. Parking can be a little crowded during the après-ski hours but we always managed to find a place. Nice bar area with large screen TV, fireplace and shuffleboard. Very friendly service in the bar/restaurant and at reception.

Ja — her er en skarp og klar anmeldelse, uden at den bliver urimelig: Opholdet levede desværre ikke helt op til forventningerne. Flere steder trænger hotellet efter vores mening til en omgang maling og generel opfriskning. Det mest frustrerende var morgenmaden. Vi fik ved ankomst oplyst, at morgenmaden sluttede kl. 10.30, men da vi kom ned, viste det sig, at den allerede sluttede kl. 09.30. Det gav en rigtig dårlig og unødvendigt irriterende start på dagen. Stedet markedsfører sig desuden som restaurant og vinbar, hvilket havde givet os forventninger om et spændende og lidt særligt vinkort. Det var vi skuffede over. Udvalget bestod af omkring 4 mousserende vine, 4-6 hvidvine, omtrent det samme antal rødvine, kun én rosé og til gengæld flere dessertvine. Vinene virkede generelt ret almindelige, og vi savnede noget, der kunne retfærdiggøre betegnelsen “vinbar”. Sengene var samtidig meget bløde, hvilket selvfølgelig er en smagssag, men for os var de simpelthen for bløde. Samlet set var opholdet okay, men der er flere ting, der bør strammes op – særligt korrekt information til gæsterne og forventningsafstemningen omkring det, stedet markedsfører sig som.
