This hotel is in a really old building. Efforts have been made to modernize the rooms but it's still pretty dated. The area around it is nice.

The property is located in a quiet area but it is a bit limited in transportation. The hotel itself is dated and a bit of a maze. They also said they had certain toiletries provided, which they didn’t.

Late night arrival from Edinburgh Airport so didn't get the chance to sample much of the facilities but check-in was straightforward and the room was clean and comfortable so just what was needed. The only issue was that I messaged the hotel in advance to say that we would be a late arrival to check that would be ok, but got no response.

Nice hotel, until we recieved the bill.

Check-in was good, room fine, evening restaurant service was poor, thankfully no service charge on our bill as the service was well below expected standards for a hotel in Edinburgh. On check out our hotel the receipt for our 1 night stay with no breakfast was £184.05, however Hotels.com had charged us £209.70? So when question on their App, they told us to ignore the hotel receipt, this was what they they paid for block booking rooms, so Hotel.com took £25.65 commission, so i will be booking directly with hotel's in future. This price is before the Edinburgh festive starts in August, expect to pay substantially more then for a 3 star.

Reception staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful. They made myself and my children very welcome at the hotel and sorted a cot out for my 1 year old quickly. The rooms were spacious with the beds comfortable. Access to the pool was a huge positive for my children. The only downside of our stay was the breakfast. My 1 year old’s high chair was given to us dirty and while the options of breakfast looked great, the hot food appeared very over held with thick dried out layers on top of the beans, eggs etc meaning we didn’t eat in.

The staff was wonderful only complaint is that it needs to be more wheelchair friendly. The room was tight for a wheelchair and there was not seat in the shower so I could shower.
