Charming place with so much character! Loved the art and the history! We stayed on the 3rd floor, where it was peaceful and quiet. It was a great way to celebrate my husband’s birthday! Cozy and relaxed on a rainy fall day.

Such a beautiful and unique space. I could not believe the space and furnishings we had for a rate that was comparable to a chain hotel. Even though there was no attendant on site, I was able to reach someone quickly by phone for a question. The surrounding area was very beautiful and walkable. I would absolutely stay here any time I was in the area.

Room 101

Inside was beautiful and clean. The outside could use a little bit of maintenance around the property. The neighborhood is beautiful and is in walking distance of a ton of restaurants and activities.

Blissfully quiet! Beautiful house and room, beautiful view - we stayed in 302 and greatly enjoyed looking out over the valley. Private. Spacious. Comfortable bed. Lots of natural light. We hope to be back soon.

6/10 Good

Not so good. Door code did not allow us to enter, and there was no one there to help us. Another guest had to get us in. The door code worked later. Active moisture in the corner. Rooms were big and clean.

Elegant accomodations at an affordable rate!

The Davidson property located on Summit Ave is one of many elegant, stately homes a short distance from St Paul's Cathedral. We were very pleased with our spacious suite, the amenities and the neighborhood! The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom with separate whirlpool tub and spacious shower were perfect for my husband and I. The closet included a plug in tower fan we greatly appreciated for helping to circulate the air cooled by the Daikin wall air conditioner. It would be helpful to know in advance that parking is on the street, and to enter from the side. The exterior of the property in back has yet to be renovated. It is sure to be beautiful once completed. We highly recommend this hotel!

2/10 Poor

On the second day, my husband and I were napping half dressed in the bed when another couple entered our code into the keypad on the room door and walked in on us. (They'd been emailed the same room/code.) Waking up to strangers at the foot of your bed is scary and awful. We never heard from management with any sort of explanation or apology. Indeed, you can't actually contact the hotel. We were locked out of the building our first night when we arrived. We called the phone number repeatedly — it's a call service — and emailed, but hours passed with no response. We finally managed to get in on our own. Pretty appalling experience especially for the high price.

Grand Boutique Hotel... almost.

The Davidson was very clean overall. We were comfortable and enjoyed our Anniversary. It may become a great boutique hotel but work is needed. First, I never received my room code to enter the hotel though I emailed twice. Second, the TV did not work. Chromecast didn’t seem to like my new iPhone (what are iPhone users options?) and DirectTV only showed us their home screen. At $200+ night it should work. Third, I don’t like finding used soda cans in a “clean” room. We found four in two different trash bins. Finally, the description of the hotel talks about lush grounds... yeah, not yet. No where to sit that wasn’t weeds or near a stale koi pond overgrown with algae. Maybe some day. The hotel and public rooms were overall awesome. I felt slighted for the price but we did not let it ruin our stay. Hope this helps.

BEWARE!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO STAY HERE. We had a reservation to stay at this property last weekend, on our wedding night. The hotel is supposed to send information in advance on how to access the room, which they did not do. I called the number they provided multiple times, emailed, and sent text messages without response. I called Expedia, and multiple parties tried to contact the hotel, also without a response. I had to rebook a hotel from my car in a wedding dress so we had somewhere to stay. The Expedia agent promised that we would not be charged for the stay, and guess what? We were charged for the hotel which could not be accessed. This entire process has been incredibly stressful and we have not been refunded.

This place is fabulous. It’s charm married with style. The rooms are spacious. Nice kitchenette. Linens are nice, though larger towels would be nice.

Lovely stay at The Davidson

I loved my stay at the Davidson! It is a beautiful, historic St. Paul property that was clearly restored with deep care. The building itself is quiet. My room had a great view of St. Paul, and the ample windows provided lovely morning sunlight. I will absolutely return on my next stay in the Twin Cities!
