Pre-Memorial Day stay

According to policies emailed before the stay there would be clean towels and housekeeping every third day of the trip, this did not happen. We had to buy extra towels, dispose of our own garbage, and buy toilet paper. The toilet seat was not stable and slipped around constantly.

We will definitely go back to Sandy Neck Motel. Tracy and Carol could not have been more gracious and attentive. The property is beautiful and our room was clean and adorable. We were very happy with our choice of places to stay and I would like to go back and stay for a week.

The Sandy Neck Motel was very simple. The pictures we saw online were much better than the reality. They cut the lawn Sunday at 7 PM. There was no coffee without flavor. The TV didn’t work. The mattress was wrapped in plastic. There was no staff in the office in the morning or in the evening. It was clean and the written communication was good. Too expensive for this poor standard.

Not only we were moved to a different room three days before arrival (after booking it three months in advance,) but was told on the phone that the new room was a much better room, when it was not the same as showing in the picture (room 17), no head boards, just a mattress and pillows. After pointing this out we were told, “oh yes now I remember we had to move the bed out and change it because there was mold in the room”. The room has a mold smell that it does not go away. Everything else is old. Towels so thin and hard.

Calling the health department

We didnt stay.No one was available to check us in.I asked a man drinking in the parking lot if he could contact the owner.He said he knew him personally he called him and owner Ryan gave him are door code to give to us!!! So we can say there was zero security. We at that point had decided to find other accommodations.I did however inspect the room,it was in no way shape or form the one on website....within 1 minute the room came alive.I had a close look above the rear window curtains and there were half dozen bedbugs,clinging to the wall waiting for there next meal.

for sure won't stay again

the remote for room temperature was impossible to figure out. (Hence we froze) the toilet was sized for use by a child (much too low for an adult). shower so small that you could not turn around in it and the handle would not stay on. no telephone in room at all. there weren't any comfortable chairs in the room just to sit on to plan your day. door had code entry that we had to scramble to get because it was not provided to us ahead of time. the adjoining room had merely a slide bar, no lock (very concerning since we did not rent that room as well. room not comfortable for average sized adults .tv reception was very bad, channels pixelating incessantly. no coffee in room. attic access just above the bed? (also a safety concern) room looks like it was decorated by the christmas tree shop .INNKEEPER WAS NO WHERE TO BE FOUNDl
