More than expected. The cabin was huge. The property was quiet-ish. That’s not the fault of the owner. Just rude neighbor. Close to the airport and within 10-20 min of pretty much everything we came to do. I would definitely stay here again. My only suggestion would be extra blanket in the cabin. If I was staying longer or if the temps were lower I would have asked, the owner was very friendly and I’m sure he would have obliged, I just didn’t ask. The temperatures were literally perfect so I don’t know if the heat/ac are good or not. Hot water was HOT, which was GREAT, but owner mentioned smaller tank size so we got in/got out and waited about 20 min between showers so I’m not sure what the run time is on the hot water, but it was perfect for us. Also the coffee was insanely delicious. I’m not sure what the brand was or if it was the filtered water or what, but I would literally come back just for that coffee…..

The cabins are very nice, great for a getaway. The only negative is there is no running water in the cabin (they do provide a pitcher with water) and the shared bathroom. But those are very small things, I had no issues going to the public bathroom. Overall these cabins are perfect for a weekend getaway, 5 out of 5 stars.

Well-managed property with a nice waterfront view. I visited during the summer, and wasn’t prepared for the insects, but other than that no issues. The owner is friendly, helpful, and unobtrusive.

We liked it a lot. Cute cabin, with a pretty pond off the front porch. Friendly, helpful staff. Was just what we needed. Only recommendation is to possibly put more gravel in front of the bathrooms/showers for when the rain makes it a little muddy outside.

Jim was very friendly and went out of his way yo meet us and show us around the property. He went out of his way to help us above and beyond with an issue that we had with our rented car.

Nice little cabin. Nothing fancy, just a small room with little fridge and microwave and TV. Could have used a fan to help move some air through the place on warm days. But it did have a ceiling fan, which was nice. The shared bath house worked out fine.
Michael, 2-night trip

The cabin was quite and the ok. I was disappointed by the breakfast option. Just a frozen breakfast sandwich in the freezer and a microwave. No regular creamer for the coffee, just one flavored one.

Alaska- The last frontier. Staying in a log cabin beside a pond that has a moose visit occasionally and a spectacular light show last night with the Aurora right there near the pond. Aurora sightings are never a guarantee but we will never forget our last night in Alaska at this B&B, it was so magical. We tried to watch the Aurora in other areas around Fairbanks but we could barely see It. Our hosts were so kind and helpful and were very knowledgeable about the Alaskan way of life, they want you to enjoy your stay. If you want a unique experience from a B&B you will not be disappointed, nice comfy beds and chairs, with a heater in the cabin u won’t get cold! Hot breakfast, the MOST wonderful hosts, beautiful setting and chance to see Northern lights right where you are staying instead of paying extra for a tour. I will remember them as Alaskan Aurora Log cabins You have to experience it for yourself! A little bit of heaven in an Alaskan Log Cabin. I will be back as soon as I can. A hotel is not the proper way to visit this state. A little on the wild side is preferable to franchises.

There were a few detractors from the cabins, but they were overwhelmed by the positives by far. You should note that the cabins' bathrooms are detached, but they are clean with good hot running water. The few trout in the lake are catch and release only, but there is an unlimited amount in Birch Lake, just 45 minutes down the road. Jim is more than willing to give you all the pointers or advice to bring them home. Also, the Wifi was down when I was there. However, that was because of a storm. Despite these setbacks, the cabins were an incredibly good place to stay. I saw beavers and sand bill cranes while staying there, the nature around was incredible, and Jim did everything possible to make my stay as good as it could be. When he learned I was interested in gold panning, he personally took me to two spots within 15 minutes of Fairbanks where I could pan for all the gold I wanted, and he gave me pointers on methods and techniques. You won't get that service at the local hotels.

10/10 Exceptional

Nice quiet cabin far enough from town that there is no light or noise pollution. Great for viewing the Aurora. The owners are super nice and we are lucky that they have chosen to share their slice of paradise with others.

Disappointed...

We had high expectations...in reality, they were less. It's easier to just list our disappointments, which may seem small or petty to others but, not to us: 1. no hand towels...just bath 2 towels and 2 washcloths. 2. the overhead lights kept flickering off and on. 3. the heater was noisy when cycling, annoying. 4. although we eventually connected to the internet via the TV with Jim's help, you had to use your own "sign in" for the apps in order to watch anything. 5. there was NO CREAMER available for the coffee, only packets of "raw sugar". 6. the coffee pot wasn't clean...just rinsed out from last use AND the basket filter wasn't clean either, still had remnants of last coffee grounds. 7. the ice cube tray looked like the ice cubes were months old...from "freezer burn". 8. the bed was "ancient", very noisy springs, not very supportive and water resistant mattress cover rustled everytime you moved...again annoying. 9. WHO uses "distilled" water to make coffee? Plain bottled water would have been just fine. 10. the water purifier pitcher in the refrigerator had a signal on the lid that was blinking RED, indicating the filter needed to be changed. 11. in general, it looked like the cabin hadn't been vacuumed or dusted for some time. The rugs had dirty spots on them. 12. In general, the cabins were much older than expected and outdated and not well kept. 13. We would not recommend them.

This was our first trip to Fairbanks and so I choose this BandB because of the price The room was clean and the bed not so soft. Your morning breakfast is a frozen jimmy dean sandwich and a little jar of orange juice so no homemade breakfast. The owners are very nice and accommodating.
