Delightful stay in Paradise

The adorable cottage and delightful, whimsical garden grounds had everything we needed for a romantic and inspiring stay. Host Ira was warm and gracious. Our favorite spot. Wish we could have stayed longer. Perfect retreat gave us easy access to Volcano National Park.

Magical vacation!

This is a tiny cabin in an artist village right outside of Volcanoes National Park. The cabin is adorable, and the host really did think of everything! I can't believe I found this gem on hotels.com! Very different from what I would expect on hotels.com, but we were so thrilled with this stay. The cabin is cozy and intimate, and it was such a special stay in a unique and special place.

The attention to detail and location are amazing. Listening to Coqui frogs in the night is an incredible experience, it's truly living in the rain forest!

A rainforest and a volcano

The cottage is in Volcano which is a rainforest climate. It rains, a lot, so if you are not interested in a bit of water then this area is not for you. With that said it was a lovely cottage. Very homey. Ira does a great job making sure you have everything you need during your stay. The bathroom is spacious for such a small place and I'm a little sad we didn't get to try the hot tub. Noble the pet rabbit is friendly in his little hutch on the property.

SO relaxing!

Tucked in amongst the trees, with birds singing and cooling breezes blowing, this Volcano Village bed & breakfast is a hidden gem. Just across the highway from the famous Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, the Volcano Artist Cottage is close to everything in Volcano Village AND the National Park, but so tucked away & private, you'd never know it. In fact, it's a historic building, on the grounds of a working restaurant & art retail store, but yet, it's so private, you'd never notice. Add in a delicious jacuzzi, and a relaxing time-out from life's responsibilities is yours for the asking. Enjoy, I know I did!

Grounds are the draw

A bit too small and dated but if you ant your own garden and art then sit the place. Much better places room wise abound.

Cozy and Rustic Cottage

This adorable cottage was a true find. If you are looking to be waited on or for a resort atmosphere, this is not for you, but for us, it was perfect. It is among the Artists Village gardens which is very Zen. Just enough space for two who like to be close. The shower area is wonderful and we are trying to figure a way to do that in our own home. There is a kitchenette with microwave, mini fridge, toaster and coffee maker, and for breakfast we were left fresh fruits, yogurts, granola and a delish mini loaf of banana bread. The owner has provided many small thoughtful amenities like spices/teas/coffee/oil, robes/slippers, CD player, small grill, WiFi, umbrellas and even flashlights and binoculars. We got there during a heavy rain storm & the small space heater was just enough to warm us up and feel comfy cozy. I admit that they need to replace the mattress as it was not overly comfortable but everything else was so suited to us, it was a minor issue. The hot tub (and I mean HOT) was so nice to have, especially after biking/hiking to see the Lava Flows. Note: the tub cover is old and heavy! I did not eat at the cafe which is right next door but did enjoy wandering thru the many small rooms of the gallery admiring all the interesting items for sale. As a guest, we rec'd 10% off which I happily accepted when I purchased a cool stone pendant as a souvenir. We did get to meet the owner, Ira, shortly before we had to leave and he is delightful. Someday we hope we can return.

Volcano Artist Cottage

We had a wonderful stay at the Volcano Artist Cottage! Ira was a great host and has the cottage and grounds looking perfect! There was fresh fruit and banana bread awaiting us upon arrival. The volcano Artist shop was full of beautiful pieces, our only regret is that we didn?t get a chance to eat lunch at the cafe.

Peaceful Retreat

The cottage is a rustic and cozy cabin situated in a very unique and artistic garden. The grounds, gallery and cottage itself are lessons in Feng Shui, the staff are extremely friendly and inviting, and the air is cool, crisp, and quiet. Definitely recommend this place for those who are not looking for high-end accommodations but a peaceful Zen-like experience.

Location and Value Cannot Be Beat

This was a wonderful place to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Ira and the staff at the cafe and gallery are friendly and helpful but never intrusive. Especially after the gallery and cafe close for the day, the property is very peaceful and private. The fridge was well stocked, and we appreciated the abundance of coffee. We wish we could transplant the shower to our own house. It's wonderful. The hot tub is also a nice touch. It only takes about a 3-4 minute drive to get into Volcano National Park from the cottage, making it a great home base for hiking and nighttime lava viewing. There are also a few good restaurants right down the street in Volcano Village. There's private parking and a separate gate for accessing the cottage, so you can come and go easily. We really can't say anything bad about this place, and we would love to return someday.

Cozy Cottage

Amazing how everything we needed was contained in such a small space. It was the quietest spot we stayed while on the island. We appreciated the breakfast supplies that were waiting for us. A perfect place to land for 2 nights while we toured the volcano. The recommendations for local dinner dining were excellent. Time did not allow us to eat in the adjacent cafe, but the menu looked wonderful. And do not miss the gallery, so much beautiful art.

an authentic local base for exploring Goddess Pele's natural volcanic wonders

We spent three enjoyable nights here, while visiting with family and touring Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and other natural wonders. Ira's Artist Cottage is perfect for a single or a couple who want a quiet comfortable place to relax after a busy day of touring. The four person outdoor jacuzzi around the corner from the front door of the cottage was very relaxing. Fruit, delicious granola, banana bread, coffee, and a choice of teas provided a good start to each day. On the same grounds as the Cottage is the Volcano Garden Arts gallery, filled with a wide variety of local arts and crafts, and Cafe Ono, a great vegetarian restaurant. The entrance to the National Park is just four miles upslope. We very much enjoyed our time at the Artist Cottage, and recommend it highly to anyone who wants an authentic local base for exploring Goddess Pele's natural volcanic wonders.

Very Special Place!!

My husband and I celebrated our 40th Anniversary here. We found it to be perfect!! The gardens were superb with hidden treasures at every turn. We were looking for an escape, and we found it. The sounds of the birds, the luxiourious bathroom, the kitchen window overlooking nature.....every part was awesome. The restaurant offered fresh, wonderful soups and salads. The fridge was stocked with exactly want we needed for our stay for breakfasts. All this and Volcanoes National Park a mile away. Our only regret.....we didn.t stay longer.

Loved our stay at the Artist Cottage. We especially appreciated (since it got chilly in the evening) the heated bed mattress pad. The grounds are so lovely and Ira is quite personable. The distance to Volcanoes National Park is great. We also enjoyed having fruit and granola supplied in the cottage along with some milk etc. We wish we would have tried the hot tub but never made it out there so we'll save that for next time!

Great little place to stay; very convenient location to Volcanoes National Park and area restaurants. It was very rainy during our stay, but I thought the outside gardens would have been lovely to enjoy, had it been a bit drier. Like the fact that the cottage had some kitchen facilities.
