Loved this hotel. Great location in the heart of Whyte Street, amazing bar and music venue, really friendly staff, spacious and clean room and a very comfy bed. Highly recommend it.

The rooms are very basic, clean, comfortable bed, very affordable with restrooms and showers down the hall. If you simply require a place to sleep in the Whyte Ave. neighbourhood, the Commercial is a good option. The historic pub downstairs is a bonus. Lots of dining spots within a couple of blocks, plus the nearby Farmers Market, bookshops, and many great local businesses.

Honestly, I was a little hesitant to book here. We planned a last-minute trip to Edmonton for a concert, and this hotel was the only reasonably priced option close to downtown. I was concerned after reading some of the reviews mentioning noise, cleanliness, parking, shared bathrooms, etc., but honestly, we had a wonderful stay! Everyone was extremely pleasant and helpful. We even lucked out and got a parking spot in their gated area, and there was additional parking behind the building as well. Our room was clean and newly renovated. The hallways are definitely dated, but that’s to be expected in a building from 1911 and honestly added some character. We ended our night at the bar located below the hotel, and surprisingly, the noise wasn’t an issue for us at all. And yes — PRIVATE BATHROOM! 😊 The location was great and within walking distance of plenty of pubs and brunch spots. We were pleasantly surprised by our experience and will definitely be staying here again. Thanks for the wonderful stay! 😊

Unique Atmosphere!

The best part was the character of the place....it had a great vibe from the Blues on Whyte club downstairs. Was exactly what I expected.....great location to stay a night or two. Not a luxury resort but was a pleasant quick stay. Staff were great and check in /out was easy.

The Commercial is an old heritage building that has been modernized inside. The furnishings are a bit bare bones, and this unit a fancy "luxury" place, but it has a lot of funky charm. The room was spotless, and the staff were all uniformly friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again when visiting Edmonton's Old Strathcona district.
