Old motel needs a lot of work. Owner is working on it. Room appeared to be clean. Beds made tight. However, there appeared to be sand in the sheets on one bed. Adequate for an overnight. Could be a diamond. Beach across the highway! Inside the park! Great location.

Pros: the decor is cute. The room was clean enough to sleep in. The lobby was welcoming. Cons: there was no toilet paper in our bathroom when we checked in and mold in the shower as well as used bottles and trash. There was 1 bath towel for 4 people. The WiFi was extremely poor. I wouldn’t count on a connection. The hallway floor and bedroom floor seemed hollow so tread lightly. You will hear dogs barking(but I don’t mind that so much)

The tub had weird residue, but could tell they are making upgrades, so forgave that. Tub wouldn't drain, so called the owner. Other owner responded and couldn't fix it, so he moved our room, that was fine. However, the guy who moved us then keyed into our room the next morning with us still in bed!!! Without even knocking!! Aleo, a third guy who tried to help with tub was smoking right by the front door, a lot. Not by the front door!! Loved that it was across the street from Lake Superior, but cost a lot for the smoking and the barging in.

This motel is near the Porcupine Mountains, and you can see Lake Superior across the road. It is a ways (15-20 minutes) from Ontanagon. Getting a late dinner in Ontanagon is hard to do on a weeknight and we ended up getting our dinner from the local Circle K because all the restaurants were closed by 8:30 PM. The motel itself was nice, breakfast was simple but available 24/7. The downside was that I noticed the first time I climbed between the sheets of the bed, there was sand on the sheets. It was otherwise not visibly dirty. The bathroom had hair from a previous guest in the tub, and there was no shampoo, but two containers of lotion. The staff were not apparant for the first 36 hours of our visit, we arrived to the keys on the counter with our name below them, and there was a man who looked like he might do maintainance. He was freindly, but told us he only speaks Polish. The evening of our second day, there was a younger man, who spoke English, who was freindly, but we were checking out soon anyway.
