When we arrived at Rundle Mountain Lodge the initial look was similar to the photos on the website and we were met by a friendly receptionist. However the room we were staying in did not meet up to the standards you would expect when paying $227.79 CAD for 1 night. The intitial feelings that both my partner and I got were feelings of disgust, disheartment and disappointment. I was ready to pack up and just leave that same night, however my partner convinced me to stay as it was only for one night.
The room was rundown and in desperate need of update and repairs. The bathroom door didn't close properly and the bathtub showed signs of repaired crackes. The showerhead was so low we needed to bend backwards to wash our hair. Though the initial sight of the room, despite being rundown, was clean, we found hairs in both the beds when getting into them. The refrigerator was small with no means of properly freezing the ice packs we were using for our cooler. Unfortunately, there was no microwave so that we were not able to warm up the meal we had bought earlier. This was an oversight on our part but would have made our stay somewhat more accomodating.
Both my partner and I have experience with traveling and staying in basic hotel rooms and have been perfectly fine doing so. This room however, has shown us a new meaning of a basic hotel room.
