Nice clean rooms. Comfy bed. Free parking and you’re literally walking distance to Ghirardelli Square. Had a quick road trip into town with the family and decided to skip the fancy shmancy hotel and go old school with a motel stay. It worked out great.

We would definitely stay here again. The rooms and bathroom were so clean and everything looked pretty much brand new. Oh, and the rooms were super cute too! We found a cute little corner market (Blue Fog) that we walked to for breakfast and coffee in the morning. Nice place in a nice neighborhood.

This motel is a super cute old style motor hotel. Recently renovated and clean. We couldn't figure out how to get the a/c to work, but with the windows open, the breeze was enough to keep the room at a comfy temp. Would stay here again.

This is a clean motel with fantastic on site parking. The rooms are small and you can hear noise in adjacent rooms and from the street. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms and floors are extremely clean. If you can get a good price - book it. Better than the surrounding motels. If you want comfort…. Look elsewhere.

Perfect location, newly updated modern rooms

I did a ton of research for our trip- me+3 teens. Wanted location that was midway and walkable for all the major spots- GG park to pier 39, Chinatown, Ferry Building, etc. Star Motel blew us away with the upgraded rooms, ample FREE parking spots, location, and flexibility for our check-out needs. 100% would recd to friends and stay again. We were in room 208- corner upstairs room- and loved it. Mini fridge, AC, new showers, sky light, and more. Loved our stay!

What an amazing find. Free parking, super clean rooms and recently refurbished. We stayed in room 118 which was at front by main road so was noisy from traffic but room was super large to compensate. We did so much walking that by time went to bed it didn’t bother us. Beds were super king size and comfortable

Fantastic hotel with everything we needed

This was a great motel kind of in the middle of everything we needed. We had rented a car and came in very late after a concert (our reason for going to SF) and there were still places to park. Also, the lot is very secure with only two entrances from the street so nobody is likely to be randomly walking through unless they purposely turn in to the property. The rooms were pretty quiet and the only time I heard the street was when an emergency vehicle was going through with sirens on. The room was very clean, and housekeeping even came through during our two-night stay and swapped out our towels with clean ones. The setup of the room was also cool with a little sitting area on the side. The AC was top notch and we kept it around 68 when we were sleeping, which was perfect. The front desk guy was very polite with a smile to greet us. It was a wonderful motel overall that was quite affordable compared to the other properties at the time, especially given the security and parking available. I'll defintely be looking at this one if we come back to SF!

Overall we had a good stay. It has been renovated recently and the rooms are nice. The staff was very nice. There was however a few issues which is why I gave it 4 instead of 5. The toilet is incredibly close to the vanity so if you’re a larger person it can be a bit uncomfortable. The lock on the room also malfunctioned which was a bit inconvenient. The door had gaps and we could see the light coming through which also let in the noise from the parking lot. But there was a mini fridge which was great. We were able to walk fairly close and get a great view of the firework show. Also there was plenty of parking, which is included. Overall a good stay.

This is a newly renovated motel. It was done very beautifully and in the retro style. It was very clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and very helpful. We booked through Expedia. We weren't expecting a $200 deposit upon arrival so keep that in mind. If you're a light sleeper ask for a top level or a lower level away from the parking spaces. It can be loud with people coming and going at all hours. The price was the most reasonable compared to others that didn't have king beds and weren't as nice. I would definitely stay again.

Could have been 5 stars…

Star Motel is newly remolded and very clean. If not for a bad experience I had, I would give it a full 5 stars. As for the bad experience… After booking this for a 3 night stay our plans changed. I went through the process of making the changes immediately- still a month before our stay. For reasons I don’t understand, the first reservation was not cancelled. So when I arrived, we had 2 rooms in our name. The guy running the front desk said I would have to come back the next day during a 3 hour window when the manager would be there. However, I had a commitment that could not be changed during said 3 hour window. I called Hotels.com who attempted to reach out several times but never got anyone to answer. I never even received keys to the 2nd room. I understand this is a small business, but customer service goes a VERY long way. I would never stay here again, nor would I recommend it to a friend.
