This was such a beautiful and peaceful place to stay. It smelled of all the beautiful flowers. The breakfast was delicious, and the hosts were so kind.
INCREDIBLE! This was our favorite place in Italy, it was like living in a fairy tale. Beautiful view, wonderful restaurant, accommodations and service were above and beyond. Concierge went out of his way to be kind and make great recommendations for attractions in the area. He is the heart of the place and the family said talking with him was one of the highlights of the trip!

We had to make a last minute change to this property from one we had in San Gimignano, and we are delighted that it worked out that way. The property is super relaxing and the staff made our stay memorable. The owner/on-site chef made a fabulous 3 course meal for dinner, plus dessert, and breakfast was simply perfect If you do not have a car and anticipate hiring a taxi, I advise that you set up the taxi in advance and the owners will be happy to provide a number for you. Excellent chef, with a respectful eye towards organic and local tradition. Restaurant is a bit expensive, but far superior to the tourist restaurants in the center. Beautiful breakfast buffet, homemade pastries, and bread like bread should be made.

Very nice, but it's a long haul to carry luggage from car to reception over gravel. Wheels are of no use. Also, if you have booked the Annex, leave your luggage in the car or you will have to haul them from the reception back to the car; you must drive to the Annex--not convenient. But it is a lovely property close to San Gimignani.
What a VIEW! we had room 26 with a cutely decorated balcony facing the valley with a gorgeous bell tower standing guard. it was so peaceful Three minutes easy walk into town with dining, shopping and sites to see. The owners made us feel like family. Everyone so happy and friendly. Fantastic breakfast. Rooms were very up to date and artistically decorated. Would love to go there again!
Hotel Umbra is a perfect location just off the Piazza Commune under an arch across from the Information center where you can park briefly to unload. Despite it being on the piazza, it's very quiet and incredible views. They have a lovely panoramic terrace on level 1 which is private and lovely with a view of the valley and several lounge chairs.
