The facilities and location were gorgeous, but what was most impressive was the extraordinary staff. They were kind, gracious, and accommodating. They made the whole experience exceptional.
Hotel dei Duchi in Spoleto offers a wonderful, quiet stay with a great location for sightseeing that is very walkable to all the main historic attractions. The property is spotlessly clean and making it the perfect retreat after a day of exploring the town. The breakfast buffet is excellent with a fantastic selection of delicious options to start your morning. Best of all, everyone on the staff was remarkably friendly, helpful, and accommodating throughout our entire visit.
My husband and I stayed here on our first part of our two week trip through Europe. What a great start to our honeymoon. They gave us the honeymoon suite, we had gorgeous views of the rolling hills of Italy. We were so close to the centre of town and walked there one night of our stay. This was such a beautiful and peaceful place to stay. It smelled of all the beautiful flowers. The breakfast was delicious, and the hosts were so kind.
Very nice, but it's a long haul to carry luggage from car to reception over gravel. Wheels are of no use. Also, if you have booked the Annex, leave your luggage in the car or you will have to haul them from the reception back to the car; you must drive to the Annex--not convenient. But it is a lovely property close to San Gimignani.
It was a great stay and we loved the resident cat! The only problem we had was the inconsistency with WiFi. Anyone who needs total access at all times should not stay here. Otherwise I would have given a + rating.
Assisi was one of our favorite places to visit in Italy and we highly recommend for all to stay here. Note: town closes down by 8:30-9:00pm. Oh almost forgot they have parking and the bus stops are right close to hotel!
Asis the town of St Francis of Asis, what an experice, I would love to leave in a little old town like that, the love that we felt in Asis is unexplainable, you have to be there.
Hotel Umbra is a perfect location just off the Piazza Commune under an arch across from the Information center where you can park briefly to unload. Despite it being on the piazza, it's very quiet and incredible views. They have a lovely panoramic terrace on level 1 which is private and lovely with a view of the valley and several lounge chairs.
