The roads getting to the property — and the Nosara area — were incredibly bumpy and rough. Once we arrived it was totally worth it. The staff was very friendly, they helped us with our Spanish, made it easy to schedule rides to town and activities offered. The restsurant was beautiful and the food was fresh and they had light healthy options. The hotel is easy walking distance to the beach, shops and restaurants. The ease for making arrangements - transportation to other area attractions as well as other locations in Costa Rica - plus COVID testing on site, and thoughtful room design made this a pleasant place to stay. I learned a lot at the lessons I took at the hotel’s surf club.
Outstanding staff. Gave us great local recommendations and very attentive. Bungalows are clean, but simple. The property is outside the main tourist spots, but the beaches close by are even better.
We travel to Nosara once or twice each year. We usually rent homes but really loved our stay at Esh. The staff is wonderful and always ready to help with anything you need at any time. I can't speak highly enough about the staff at Esh! Beautiful property.

The property is split between 2 buildings - a beachside building and another about 2 blocks away. That is why you see pool views and beach views in the listing. We stayed in the inland building with the pool and could not have enjoyed it more. Room was clean and the bed comfortable. The Sunset Shack is the perfect place to stay for a surf trip in Nosara! It is quiet and chill compared to other places in the area, and it's a short walk down to the beach. Our room was very comfortable and a perfect size for our family. The staff is so friendly and attentive, and the food at Al Chile is fresh, delicious and nourishing. And reasonably priced. We so enjoyed our daily breakfasts and lunches. We also appreciate that the road is paved by the Sunset Shack as it keeps the dust down...

My husband and I had a wonderful time at Montelaguna and I absolutely hope to return. The property was very charming and well decorated with a relaxed atmosphere and all the conveniences we would want. The meals were so good that we rarely ate anywhere else -- well prepared and reasonably priced. The staff were ALWAYS pleasant and helpful. They made a great mojito.
