The one let down was the tired old rule of long trousera for men in the restaurant. This really has to change, totally outdated. I understand why the rule was originally put in place (to keep up dress standards). This was the second year in row that I stayed at the XQ El Palacete. I travel a lot for business and leisure and I believe this is one of the best hotels in Europe. The reception staff was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The chefs and dining room staff were first class. The food was excellent. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The hotel is located about a 5 min walk from a great stretch of beach. My wife and I did not stay around the hotel at all because we were always going to different beaches on the island, but there are several great pools for children to enjoy. The staff was great, the buffet restaurant had lots of tasty choices, and the several bars were convenient. Direct access to sandy beach bay. You walk down a few stairs and you are on the beach and close to the water. Being close to the hotel and the beach enabled us to enjoy the All Inclusive offer (cocktails, lunch, snacks). You can rent out 2 sun chairs + sunshade for 13.50€ a day or ask for discounts for more days. We paid 32€ for 3 days.

A very relaxing time in a beautiful location. Food was very well done and of very good quality. Great décor around the hotel generally and the pool area particularly. Fantastic beach only a short walk away and a lovely little beach front café / restaurant right overlooking the same beach ( not affiliated with the hotel) All in all an excellent choice for a great relaxing getaway away from the main 'British' resorts.
