Top neighborhoods in Pamplona

Old Town Pamplona
Old Town Pamplona captures centuries of Basque culture between its medieval stone walls. Gothic churches stand proudly alongside the Renaissance Town Hall, while narrow cobblestone streets lead to the lively Plaza del Castillo. The neighborhood hosts the famous San Fermín festival with its heart-pounding bull runs and traditional pintxo bars serve up authentic Navarrese flavors. Walking is your best bet in this compact historic center where most attractions sit within a 10-minute stroll. Boutique hotels in converted palaces offer stone walls with modern comforts, while traditional pensiones provide budget-friendly alternatives. Evening brings locals and visitors together for the beloved Spanish tradition of bar-hopping.

Segundo Ensanche
Segundo Ensanche offers elegant city living with wide, tree-lined boulevards and upscale shopping along Avenida Carlos III. This sophisticated neighborhood balances business energy with residential calm, just a short walk from Pamplona's historic center. Discover local treasures like Teatro Gayarre and Plaza Principe de Viana while mingling with stylish locals far from the tourist crowds. The dining scene features refined tapas bars and restaurants serving modern Navarrese cuisine. Boutique hotels and upscale apartment rentals provide comfortable bases for exploration. The neighborhood's grid pattern makes getting around on foot or by city bus incredibly easy, with regular connections to the Old Town and train station.

Iturrama
Iturrama is a student-friendly district where local life buzzes around the University of Navarre. Explore authentic neighborhood squares, spot residents chatting on benches under shade trees, or visit the University of Navarra Museum. Yamaguchi Park and Larrabide Stadium offer green spaces perfect for people-watching or a morning run. Budget-friendly dining is everywhere with tapas bars and family restaurants serving hearty Navarrese cuisine. City buses connect you to Pamplona's center in just 15 minutes, while tree-lined streets make walking a pleasure. Affordable guesthouses and apartment rentals make this residential area ideal for travelers seeking authentic Spanish life.

San Juan
San Juan's historic district offers a peaceful escape from Pamplona's tourist crowds. Medieval stone churches anchor quiet plazas, while centuries-old Navarrese architecture creates intimate courtyards perfect for exploration. Traditional balconied buildings line cobblestone streets where authentic pintxo bars serve local specialties. The neighborhood's flower-boxed facades and hidden pocket gardens invite leisurely strolls. Family-run establishments serve traditional chistorra and pimientos del piquillo at modest prices. Accommodations are limited but apartment rentals in historic buildings provide an authentic local experience. Getting around is best done on foot, with central Pamplona just a 15-minute walk away.

Pamplona City Centre
Pamplona's historic center wraps you in medieval magic with its imposing stone walls and Gothic cathedral. Wander through cobblestone plazas where café terraces buzz with energy, or trace the famous bull run route along Estafeta Street. The compact district comes alive during the legendary San Fermín festival but keeps its charm year-round with pintxos bars and cultural sites. Traditional bars line the narrow streets, serving delicious Basque tapas and local wines into the night. The entire center is walkable within 15 minutes, though cobblestones make comfortable shoes a must. Boutique hotels in converted historic buildings offer authentic accommodations with modern comforts.

Pamplona and related destinations
Beyond the famous bull-running festival, Pamplona captivates with medieval walls encircling a city where history feels delightfully alive. The Gothic cathedral towers above Plaza del Castillo, where Hemingway once nursed drinks at Café Iruña. Evenings transform the old quarter into a pintxos paradise, with locals hopping between bars sampling these elaborate Navarrese tapas. The city's surprising abundance of parks offers peaceful contrast to its passionate atmosphere. Football fans shouldn't miss catching CA Osasuna at El Sadar Stadium, where the crowd's enthusiasm rivals the San Fermín festivities. The Museum of Navarra houses treasures that reveal this region's unique cultural position between Basque and Spanish traditions.

"Was a one night stay in the way to start the cameno Was a bit noisy with other guests in the floor. So close thought to everything and short walk to bus station"
Hotel Albret
"Beautiful Hotel. Love the marble staircase. Rooms were immaculate. Long pillows on the bed were so cozy for me because I’m a side sleeper. There is an offsite fitness club about 7 min walk. Used it all 3 days. About 30 min walk to downtown. City is so walkable. Wide, safe sidewalks. All cross walks have crossing lights. If you have a bike or standing scooter you’re downtown in minutes."

Hotel Yoldi
"Very good location, super clean. The hotel just keep guests’ luggage for a few hours only, not for a few days. Overall the staying was very pleasant!"
