You might want to head out to Cradle Mountain for some fresh mountain air and a bird's-eye view of Cradle Mountain. Hotels.com travelers also say the area is full of friendly people and has lots of nice parks.

This is the shot most people take of Dove Lake. I just happened to get up a lot earlier than most to attain the best lighting. The walk around takes around 2 hours but is easy and you're on boardwalk or even ground most of the way. I'll post some other places that I think you should consider if you go there because Cradle Mountain N.P. is a whole lot more than just Dove Lake.

"My room was super clean and surrounded by wildlife. I also booked a treatment at the Waldheim spa as well as two times the private sanctuary (at it was just stunning). The crew over there was so so nice. Especially Senna who gave me lots of nice recommendations about the area and north east of tassie. A wonderful and absolutely unexpected breathtaking stay! I also loved that you can spot platypuses in the lake at the lodge. "
