Learn more about Lone Pine

Between the jagged Sierra Nevada and Inyo Mountains sits a frontier town that's played backdrop to countless Western films. The Alabama Hills offer bizarre rock formations where you can recreate scenes from Gunslingers to Gladiator. At the Museum of Western Film History, discover how Hollywood transformed these landscapes into cinematic legends. Mount Whitney, the highest peak in the contiguous states, looms dramatically overhead. Fuel up at local diners where waitresses might casually mention the time John Wayne ate at the counter. Manzanar National Historic Site provides a sobering counterpoint to the natural beauty. After hiking, cool off at Diaz Lake Recreation Area where the water offers blessed relief from summer heat. The town's single main street feels like a portal to another era.

"Just stopped on our way through town late at night. After hours check in was easy. Everything was clean and room had the essentials. I only gave it a four star because we could not figure out how to keep the air on for the entire night and had to continuously adjust."
