"It was our first time staying at The Hotel St. James. At first I was disappointed that there was no coffe pot in our room and no room service. It extremely clean staff was polite. It was near to everything we went for. "

"Back in the 70s I lived in the building next door. The building where the Night Hotel is now was an SRO (look it up) back in the day. I noted that a number of rooms seemed to still be SRO housing. The clerk acknowledged that. was so. Go watch the film "The Night Porter" with Dirk Bogarde and Charlotte Rampling to get a feel."

"Great clean studio queen apartment with comfortable bed and pillows, clean bathroom with amenities and water pressure, kitchen well equipped, would have preferred fresh milk rather than powdered. Unfortunately room 1101 was so horribly noisy being subjected to constant noisy air conditioning systems for this building and others. The maintenance guy was able to take our portable system out which helped but still noisy, couldn't change rooms as apparently fully booked assuming it was spring break for the U.S. we were staying 5 nights. Only one of the two lifts worked but it was sufficient. You have to lug your suitcases up and down the front stairs as there are no ramps althoughthere isa wheelchair accessible lift. Hotel is so close to Times Square and Broadway and other attractions including shopping, restaurants/cafes, there is a supermarket within walking distance, you can actually walk to Central Park too and the Big Bus is useful. "

"The air conditioning did not work at all. It was boiling hot in our room the entire time. The shower was nothing more than a trickle and it did not drain. "

"The air conditioning was turned off. The blinds were not working. The room barely has any amenities. The staff said the AC was not working, but it was working in the lobby. They just didn't turn on the ones in the rooms. Housekeeping was good. Would like management to look into the quality of the property or shut it down till appliances work."

"Everyone was amazing. They let us check in early cause we arrived early. The beds were wonderful. The breakfast was delicious and the perfect way to start the day."
