Learn more about Prairie Du Chien
Glide along the mighty Mississippi on a riverboat cruise, where bald eagles soar overhead and time seems to slow with the current. Villa Louis mansion reveals Victorian splendor with original furnishings and tales of frontier wealth. Fort Crawford Museum chronicles military life where future president Zachary Taylor once commanded. Nearby Effigy Mounds National Monument preserves mysterious earthworks shaped like bears and birds, crafted by ancient hands. Anglers find paradise in backwater channels teeming with walleye and northern pike. The Wisconsin River meets the Mississippi here in a watery confluence that shaped centuries of history. Local taverns serve Friday fish fries with views that turn spectacular at sunset, when the bluffs glow amber against the darkening water.

Windsor Place Inn
"We stayed two nights, Room was better than expected, had more than two double beds , only thing I can say is they could use a better bar of soap and more than one, very comfortable beds, staff was great, not many of them which is fine, lobbyis beautiful and welcoming, breakfast was typical so no complaints and plenty of parking but we stayed during the week so not many people staying, very quiet property"

"The check in was strange. It’s “no contact” so there is no staff on sight. We arrived at 7pm and the place was completely deserted, which was unnerving. We got into our room with a code for the door. The room was clean. Bed was a little uncomfortable and the bathroom is small but, the view was pretty and being the only ones at the hotel, we sat outside and played our guitars under the stars and enjoyed ourselves very much."
Boarders Inn & Suites by Cobblestone Hotels – Waukon
"Hotel is old but seems well maintained and cleaned."
