Learn more about Nags Head
Towering sand dunes at Jockey's Ridge State Park create a desert-like playground where hang gliders launch into the Atlantic breeze. The black-and-white spiral of Bodie Island Lighthouse stands sentinel over the coastline, offering panoramic views for those willing to climb. Fishing enthusiasts cast lines from Jennette's Pier, extending 1,000 feet into waters where stories of the catch grow with each telling. At Oregon Inlet Fishing Center, charter captains compete for who can find the best offshore spots. The beaches themselves star in this Outer Banks town, where wild horses occasionally appear like apparitions from pirate legends. After sunset, seafood restaurants serve the day's catch while locals share tales of shipwrecks visible just offshore during particularly low tides.

Blue Heron Motel
"Great weather although hot as to be expected. We loved the balcony looking straight out to the ocean. The room not fancy but clean. Located at the south side of Nags Head but convenient to food restaurants and piers. We like the old Nags Head feel of the hotel."
Holiday Inn Express Nags Head Oceanfront by IHG
"Property was well maintained. We stayed here about 30 years ago and it is still as nice. Bed was comfortable, view was great. We were on 5th floor and loved it. Staff were very nice, housekeeping staff were great"
Mia's Boutique Hotel
"Room for was clean. Small but no issues."
Tar Heel Motel
"Clean and renovated room right across from the beach. The room had a wet bar with a small fridge, microwave, and toaster oven which were very useful. The property was well maintained and the housekeeping attendants were helpful when we needing things. We will DEFINITELY be back!"
Sea Foam Motel
"Good place to stay. Needs an upgrade. Doors hard to open and lock. Bring toiletries. Had one bar of soap for three day stay. I would stay there again."
The First Colony Inn
"The First Colony Inn was a charming surprise. Our room was clean and filled with wonderful antique furniture. The bed was very comfortable. My wife and I highly recommend the Inn. We look forward to return visits."
SandSpur Ocean Cottages
"great location. It is an older motel, so some is expected. Id say the biggest disappointment was the shower. Defiantly needs some TLC. But I will happily stay again."
Comfort Inn South Oceanfront
"Great beach access. Comfortable beds. Located close to restaurants and activities. We arrived on a Sunday at the end of the season so many places were closed. With that the traffic was non existent and no crowds to deal with. It’s a great central location in OBX."
