If you are looking for a very quiet location with country views, then this is the place. The expansive grounds and pool area are very well maintained. The staff are excellent and certainly make you feel welcome and they are also very helpful. There are only about 20 rooms. Nice touch is providing two bathrobes. The rooms were spacious and comfortable! The balcony was great for relaxing at night or having coffee in the morning (which the coffee was an added bonus from the hotel). I loved the pool area outside and being able to put my feet in and read. Would stay again!
Overall a very nice stay at a fun hotel. Really the only slightly negative thing I can say is the bathrooms are quite small. Otherwise a very enjoyable stay.
We had a great stay at Solar Mendoça, it is a wonderful hotel with equally as wonderful staff. The location is perfect and easy access from the train station (about a 10 min walk on level streets) also it’s very close to old town. Beautiful, well maintained resort! We are a family of 4, we stayed in double room with a valley view. Bathroom was a large spa-like space. My kids enjoyed the pool and snacks from the pool bar. We played two round of golf on the property course. Easy drive to the marina and beaches!

We were upgraded to a suite which was lovely.
Staff were more than helpful and did their utmost to ensure a comfortable stay.

This is a nice beachside property, with excellent views either of the ocean or the sound side (ours was ocean, but we sat on the outdoor patio on the sound side a bunch too). Beyond the obvious excellent proximity to the sand, the real winner here is the people running the on-site restaurant - they really just could not be nicer and more accommodating.
