This hotel is great if you are looking to spend a few days exploring La Paz and the surrounding area. It is walking distance from the Malecon where you can find much of the dining and night life of La Paz and just one block from Oxxo and Pemex for easy access to convinces and gas. If you have a car it is extremely easy to get to Balandra and Tecolote beaches. The included breakfast is also a great perk, and make sure to wake up early enough to get the bread of the day.

Leeann was a fantastic host. She is super laid back and easygoing. She had great recommendations for dinner and sightseeing. Our room was comfy and it was nice to have a small fridge and coffee maker in the room. Her property is amazing and in a good location. The rooftop deck was perfect for sunset watching with wine and cheese. The breakfasts were plentiful and delicious. Leeann even accommodated our dietary restriction. She's running a licenced business, and we would definitely return.
We stayed at Hotel Alcatraz for 2 weeks in August while seeing one of us through a major surgery. From our arrival at La Paz airport (owner Maru picked us up) to our departure, we were treated to excellent care. Maru and her staff made sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable and safe (during COVID), including providing wonderful meals cooked to order and regular room cleaning. This place is located very remotely at the end of a barely driveable one-lane dirt road, one hour from the nearest city (La Paz). It is truly in the middle of nowhere.
