Offa's Dyke from the west The earthwork crossing the centre of the picture is Offa's Dyke, seen from the hillside on the opposite side of the valley cutting across this steeply undulating land. This would have been the view of the Welsh tribes approaching from the west in the 8th century, although the actual earthwork would have been bigger. Offa's Dyke long distance path follows the dyke at this point.

"Extremely pleasant and accommodating staff. Room was clean and warm as was the en-suite. Bed was very comfortable. Plenty of various tea and coffee sachets available in addition to milks and sweeteners etc. Breakfast was freshly cooked to liking. Although I had no problem parking, the car park is small with limited street parking opposite, which potentially could be an issue during busy periods. Overall, staying at The Talbot was an excellent experience. "
