voco Zeal Exeter Science Park by IHG
8/10 Good
"Perfectly good hotel, very easy access to the motorway and on a par with Hilton in the UK. No real wow factors, but clean and comfortable for a short stay. Best things about the room: comfortable bed and excellent, large TV. Worst things: shower water was a bit feeble (conserving use of water for the planet?) and furnishings a bit minimalist, though adequate. Other than that, there’s a rather odd policy of providing tea and coffee from a machine in the corridor. Fine in the daytime, but not so good if you like a cup of tea in bed before you get up. To be fair, we were offered a kettle at check-in, but I would much rather that tea and coffee were provided in the room as is standard practice virtually everywhere else. Breakfast was ok, but not outstanding - seemed to be a lack of plates and cutlery."

Holiday Inn Taunton by IHG

"Very helpful and friendly staff from check in to the restaurant staff. Hotel room was clean and the food in the restaurant was great. The outside could have been a bit tidier due to a lot of cigarette butts lying around but that was a small issue really."
ibis Bridgwater
8/10 Good
"I had booked through hotels.com and had got a good b&b deal. It hadn't been made clear, though, that there would be a parking charge of £9. I was pleased that the receptionist reduced this to £6 which was a helpful gesture - apparently Ibis do not own or run the car park. The room and twin beds (made into a superking) were comfy. Having a socket by the mirror was useful; there was a lovely large shower cubicle. Good breakfast overall, though poor selection in cereals (eg no weetabix) and spreads (eg no marmite). Very nice scrambled egg (once I'd added s&p). No fried eggs as standard but when my husband asked for these they were made to order. Staff were friendly and helpful. I had already checked in online but I'm not clear what the point of that was so that was a waste of time. We had to wait a long time for the (very pleasant) receptiionist to be able to deal with us on arrival, where we had to check in and pay for parking. There was no self-check-in-kiosk."
