An absolute gem. One of those rare places that is designed and maintained with genuine care and highest standards. Expansive views of the unspoiled countryside with the ocean sparkling in the distance. The roomy soaking tub and wood-burning stove were soul-filling after being out for walks in the cool June weather. Mark and his dogs led us to see a koala nestled in one of their majestic trees. Gorgeous grounds and friendliest hosts we've encountered on our travels. We will be back.

Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. I was able to park outside the room. The courtyard area was a bit dark but that's what cell phone flashlights are for! Reception was open when we checked in. Lady on reception was friendly. We left the room key in the box at reception when we left. Bathroom was a bit small but functional. Location was close to main street which was easily walkable. There were no breakfast facilities at the hotel but we drove a few miles to the Kafe Koala in Kennett...

Out of the 2 months we were travelling around Victoria, Motel Marengo was perhaps our pick. No because it was the best (we also stayed in some swanky digs as well which were better quality) but the value for money was good, the place was clean, the people running the place were friendly (and very helpful when we broke down before we had even checked in #nightmare!) and it was a treat to see lots of wild parrots around the place. Oh, and it was a welcome to find wifi that A/ actually worked and...
