Loved it! Cute town and lovely breakfast. Nice restaurant at the neck back Pecks and casual pub food at the front. On small thing service was slow in the pub food and breakfast. Seems understaffed! Eveything else was great.
We stayed 3 nights at the Kingscroft Guest House. Vol was very welcoming from the moment we walked in their front door. He was very detailed in explaining how everything worked in our room, as well as other features of the house. He often gave us tips for exploring and eating in the area. There were many options for breakfast and Victoria was spending time during the day to test new recipes to please people from different countries and cultures. We enjoyed her efforts to cook both...
Great stay in a very friendly country inn. All the staff were super friendly and helpful, the Guinness was great, the bed was really comfortable and I look forward to coming back. One note if you’re an American like me— don’t just ask Siri to get directions to the Dog & Partridge because apparently there’s a pub with that name in every village, lol. When I finally got to the right one, though, it was worth it!
Gorgeous property - an old mill renovated in keeping with the Peak District's charm and limestone buildings. (Oddly it has a commercial showroom attached to it that sells the kitchen/bath fixtures that are used in the property.) The property manager Jo is lovely and was so helpful in answering questions and helping us out with some logistics both before and during our visit. The dining room is beautiful and the breakfast had fresh and ample offerings each morning. (We didn't dine there in the...
The bathroom was really clean with quality fixtures. The room was beautiful and the bed comfortable. It's on an old farm on the outskirts of town so it was really quiet.
We had a good experience and would definitely stay there again. If coming by train, schedule a taxi ahead of time - there’s a long walk up a steep hill(which isn’t fun if you have much luggage).
We have no complaints on our stay, we only wished that it would’ve been for longer. Our room was extremely comfortable, breakfast was the best!
We will be back to explore the area and will definitely try and stay here again
We had a great stay here with our two dogs. The staff was wonderful and we really enjoyed the breakfast every morning. Dinner and drinks were enjoyed every night. It’s in a good location to access hikes without driving anywhere.
I was very impressed with the Queen's Head. Nice clean room in a great location in Higher Buxton. Housekeeping promptly every day. First-rate full English breakfast included.
My only complaint is that the room was rather small. There was no space to have an open suitcase, so I had to stuff it in a closet. That was a little inconvenient. Of course, I realize there is nothing they can do about that. It is an old building, and the room size is what it is.
The Moon has great character, a fascinating history (I'm distantly related to many of the past owners from the 1800s), excellent amenities, and excellent breakfasts. I enjoyed my dinners there, too. Josh and Emma from the staff were both very friendly and helpful to me. The parking is easy, the inn centrally located in the heart of the village, and lots of local characters stop by for a pint and folks from further afield for a meal. A quintessential Derbyshire experience. Not my first time...
I saved up for this trip for years, so decided I would splurge a few times on hotels and the Cavendish was one of them. I was not disappointed! The room was huge, beautiful, comfortable, with all amenities, clean and did I mention gorgeous?
I had a lovely view, the light was excellent, the bed was heaven. Both restaurants in the hotel served excellent fare with outstanding customer service. The formal dining room was one of the prettiest rooms I have seen, although the chairs were created...
