Dalhousie Castle is the ideal place if you're looking to stay in a castle in the Edinburgh area. It's about a 20 minute taxi ride from the city center which is just far enough to be out in the peaceful Scottish countryside. The castle itself is absolutely beautiful, and sits on grounds that are equally so, with archery, falconry, and several great walking paths. The staff at the hotel were extremely nice and accommodating - we were even greeted by a nice gentleman in full Scottish garb who...

We stayed at The Raeburn for one night on a recent trip to Edinburgh but wish we could have stayed a few more! The room was huge with lovely woodwork and a marble bathroom (the fixtures were top-notch with a huge tub, huge shower, double sink, and towel warmer). Our king-sized bed was very comfortable and there was also a large flat-screen TV. The elevator made it easy to get to our room and there was parking on-site. The staff was friendly and helpful. This is a beautiful hotel in a perfect location. I stayed here last May and loved it so much I returned last week. The old town of Edinburgh is a short walk away, while the hotel, itself, is on the edge of the new town with many great shops, pubs and restaurants from which to choose. The staff is very friendly and management truly aims to please. You won't be disappointed with this choice and personally, I am already looking forward to my return!
