Trees blocked the view of the fireworks but you can see those from the parking lot just steps away. We had two single beds downstairs and our daughter had her own bed in a mezzanine up a slightly scary ladder. Mattresses were a bit too hard for my liking (we have luxury firm at home). We were a bit concerned about the location, as we had no car, but the owners were kind enough to pick us up and return is to Toya train station. And we were glad we decided to stay at the hotel. Room was spacious, overlooking the lake (though fireworks are remote) and with a good bed. Breakfast was nice, though western style. We also ordered some things for dinner. Reasonable pricing and tasty. Staff was very helpful and kind.

This seasoned hotel turned out very satisfying to me. Though at one end of the beach park, it boasts a great view, with access to spacious beach front. Just as the picture of its exterior onsen spa shows, you can see the mountain at the far end of the lake. Also the check-in time is not as restrictive as some online review complained (before 6pm) so more flexible for a busy travel schedule. This place was our (group of 3) favorite during our travels to Hokkaido. It was much cozier than the pictures convey and the sauna was a welcome luxury after skiing and very snowy days. It was majestic to be able to walk to Ukimido Pagoda on a moody weather day, then come back to our cozy lodge. It was so helpful to have a washer/dryer and plenty of drying rack space near the heater. There were many good restaurants just 20 minutes from the lodge near the south side of the lake.
