"15yrs since our last visit and the passage of time hasn’t been kind to the establishment . From the lack of tlc in the old garden to the weeds on the oath and the unkempt front garden, first impressions were not good. The hotel or now restaurant with rooms is a tired old lady. Door are bashed and chipped, skirting’s are scratched and flaky. Carpets are tired and worn. Clean and tidy overall and with lovely friendly staff . Excellent food and service at meal times. But it is just tired, lacking an onsite manager."

The windows needed drastic attention, we could not move them due to the state of repair, I assume there is some sort on 'listed building status' but they really need attention. "The staff behind the bar and who worked in the restaurant were very friendly. The room was a good size and there was nice view from our window. Breakfast was brought to your room rather than in the restaurant, this was different and gave the option for having breakfast in bed. The only downside was that the door for the stairwell at the end of the hallway kept slamming. This door was next to our room which was quite frustrating."
