Dalhousie Castle is the ideal place if you're looking to stay in a castle in the Edinburgh area. It's about a 20 minute taxi ride from the city center which is just far enough to be out in the peaceful Scottish countryside. The castle itself is absolutely beautiful, and sits on grounds that are equally so, with archery, falconry, and several great walking paths. Snack room nearby is nice- water,tea,coffee,cereal. Shops,restaurants nearby,as well as bus. 1.60 to city center,easy. We also walked to center, about 40min. No checkout required, just leave key in room door. Very easy. Feels like staying at a home in neighborhood.
