Learn more about Oban
A horseshoe bay cradles this Scottish transport hub where ferries depart for Hebridean adventures and whisky enthusiasts sample drams at Oban Distillery. McCaig's Tower – a curious colosseum-like structure – rewards climbers with sweeping views across the Firth of Lorn. The seafood couldn't be fresher; watch fishing boats unload their catch before it appears on local restaurant plates. Dunollie Museum offers glimpses into clan history, while Dunstaffnage Castle stands as a weathered sentinel nearby. Between island-hopping excursions, explore the War and Peace Museum or arrange wildlife-watching trips. During summer, the population triples as visitors arrive for sea kayaking, diving, and the simple pleasure of watching sunset paint the harbor gold.

Corran House Guest House
"Great stay, staff were extremely helpful and changed our room to one with fewer stairs for my mum who struggles with bad knees."
The Royal Hotel
"Pretty good location right at one end of town with tons of shops and restaurants, easy walk to the waterfront. The hotel is a little run down but has character that I found sort of charming. The room was basic but clean and comfortable with everything you needed. For a budget stay this was a good choice overall. We were disappointed with parking, although it is clearly described in the post that parking is limited, so we knew it could be an issue going in. Their lot is small and chaotic around the corner from the hotel -spaces aren’t really marked and it was full when we got there. The staff did direct us to a paid lot down the street, but we ended up finding a spot on the street and were able to top up the meter frequently enough to make that work. If you want guaranteed parking stay elsewhere (again, all described in their listing)."
Oban Bay Hotel
"Great view, comfortable beds. Loved the sitting room."
Dunarle Guesthouse
"As last year, when I stayed at the Dunarle, the room was clean, the house cleaners were pleasant and efficient, and the bathroom was very clean, even though it was a shared bathroom. But some issues: there was a small desk in my room, but no chair that "fit" it. When I made this reservation, I was promised a free continental breakfast. When I arrive, they no longer offer the breakfast I was promised, but offered no explanation or compensation. Disappointing. Finally, given I was on the first floor front, I was surprised at how loud the street noises were."
The Whisky Vaults
"Great location in Oban. Rooms were decorated and furnished very nicely. Rooms are above a very nice bar, but despite a full bar, no noise impacted our stay. Great little place!"
Muthu Oban Regent Hotel
"The staff was very helpful and the room was better than expected."
Knipoch House Hotel
"Excellent place for a couple of nights away"
Oyster Inn
"Great place to stay. The restaurant/pub were nice, the room was quiet and comfortable. Would stay here again"
Hamilton house guest house
"We booked a 1 night stay to be in town close to the ferry terminal which we had to be at by 5.30am - a rather early start. The hotel was very handy for this and we parked in a public car park (advised by the helpful hosts) and then we walked along to the ferry very early in the morning. The hotel was perfect for this and we had a decent (if short!) sleep. The room was fine for this - basic without frills and a comfortable bed. Please do note that the window opened straight onto the main road and can be rather noisy with trucks and cars going past right outside. And some drunken revellers passing by early morning. Not the hotel's fault, it is the price you pay for being handy in the middle of the town!"
