Staying at Ye Olde Red Lion was a fun experience. It is probably the most unique place I've stayed with its blending of old, old and new and updated rooms. I would stay here again. We were in Arran Room which was very nice other than the mattress should be replaced. It is uncomfortable. The outside grounds need some cleaning and TLC, too. This was a comfortable hotel in the center of a vibrant small town. The staff were efficient and very friendly. The rooms were spacious and clean. The breakfasts were vegan friendly.
The staff was very friendly but I have to admit the internet even at times when I could connect was so weak, I couldn’t even access my emails. The shower has a power saver machine on it but the problem is the hot water cycles from cold to warm to scalding and around and around so you constantly have to dip under and out. I can’t say the stay was worth the price.
Room was large, bright and very pleasant. It took some fiddling but eventually I was able to get my shaver to work with the electrical socket in the bathroom. Hotel is at the north end of the village. People who work there are friendly and have helpful information such as taxi services in the area. Dinner was good but my preference would have been that they spent more money on the quantity of the food and less on the presentation (which was more like a posh restaurant than a pub).
The Pelican was a lovely place to stay on our trip; the surrounding lawns, garden, pond and brook were lovely to sit by on a warm day, and the dinner we had was really excellent. Our room was nice and had plenty of room, but was very, very warm (it faced the afternoon sun), and there is no A/C. The weather was unusually warm for England during our stay … We purchased electric fans to help with the heat and left them there for the Inn - we hope they will be made available to future guests.
We absolutely loved our stay at the White Hart and only wish it could have been longer! The building is full of history, very old but beautifully maintained. Parking was plentiful behind the establishment. We enjoyed a delicious meal and drink at the pub, and then retired to our clean and quiet room. Staff were all extremely kind and helpful; special thanks to Alex, Millie B, and Chaz. Breakfast featured lots of interesting options to choose from and was tasty. Would happily stay again!
We booked this hotel because we needed air con and it did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived to when we left, it was everything we had been looking for. The staff was great and were able to accommodate us with an early check in. They even have little goodie bags for the dogs, which included a ball. There's a great wooded area across the street from the hotel that's nice and shaded, which the dogs appreciated during the heatwave. This hotel was fantastic and exceeded our expectations....
Outstanding pub lodging about 10 minutes from historic Winchester. Staff are extremely helpful and the rooms thoughtfully and creatively furnished. Food is notably delicious.
