We were happy to roll into La Canourgue after a beautiful, if sometimes scary drive through Cévennes. The Hotel Du Commerce has decent parking, because it is also what appears to be a popular restaurant and bar. We weren't able to try the food, because we arrived too late and left too early in the morning. We checked in with the man at the bar; he was friendly and quick to help. Our room was spacious and clean. After checking in, we strolled around the town and found many interesting alleyways...

This was hands down our favorite stay over the course of a two-week trip in southwestern France. The owners are so very kind and helpful, and the home itself is beautifully refurbished. All the rooms have lovely views, either of the garden or of the plateaus across the valley. We enjoyed chatting with the owners who were very patient with the limits of our French language abilities! Choose this place if the area works for your journey - you will be very glad you did!
