Sabor Tico... delicious, authentic. Souvenir shop in town has a bird viewing area...saw toucans, blue jays, parrots... We booked Zipline and Skybridge with Treetopia. Felt very safe and had a blast. El Tigre hike was challenging but our favorite.

The town is lovely and there are lots of great outdoor activities, special climate and geography. People are very friendly. If you are driving to Monteverde, be prepared for many gravel roads where having an SUV 4x4 would be best.

Make sure to do both the day and night hikes in the Cloud Forest. And eat at Sabor Tico in Santa Elena for excellent traditional food.

Go during the wet season if you really want to understand why it's called the "cloud forest".

The best zip lining experience in the area was right on sight, we went to the Monteverde cloud Forest reserve but didn't see anything, maybe we should have booked a guide
