The location, Makunduchi, is very calm. It's perfect for those who want some rest. The hotel facilities are simple but clean, organized and comfortable. I got impressed with the Wi-fi connection in the rooms. It's very good considering the location is far from Stone Town. Not the best connection but quite fast and reliable.
The food is very good, tasty and prices are fair.
Don't hire tours (Blue Safari, Stone Town, etc.) thru the local hotels because they are more expensive than if you negotiate...
On arrival we were greeted by the manager Tony who was great throughout the trip. The check-in was hassle free. The property is nice and upgraded. There is minor renovations going on but without any inconvenience to guests. The resort was very private and feels like you have the entire staff and property all to yourself with minimal visibility of other guests except for the dining area. It's close to the beach, but everything around the hotel is under construction. Make sure to ask your way to the beach, it's well worth it.

This is the place to stay on the island! We had a marvelous time at the Ocean Boutique. Every single staff person has a smile and extraordinary customer service skills. They can arrange any excursions you want. Everything is kept sparkling and clean as they service your room twice a day. The food is outstanding. Chef Ali and his team serve amazing good. If you are a foodie, this is the place you want to stay. You will not be disappointed in a single thing.

We stayed only one night on a quick pit stop to Zanzibar on our honeymoon inbetween safari and Seychelles. If we had to do it over again we would have spent all of our time in Zanzibar here with a quick day trip to stone town. Siriak is a very attentive but not intrusive host. One of the best things about this property is that there are only 6 villas so it is very peaceful and each villa has its own private cabana by the ocean which is a fantastic way to spend the day inbetween meals.
