July 2010 Mtskheta, Georgia Mtskheta is one of the oldest cities in Georgia and it is located some 20 km north of the capital Tbilisi at the confluence of the Aragvi (on the right) to the river Mtkvari (also known as Kura). It is considered as a birthplace of Christianity in Georgia and was the capital of early Georgian kingdoms in 5th century A.D. In the picture taken from near historical Jvari monastery you can clearly see the Svetitskhoveli cathedral from 11th century. The place has became in 1994 UNESCO World Heritage Site. #unesco
